I hope ya'll don't mind me carrying this weekly thread over from TTGP (I am assuming this hasn't been started here yet). I enjoyed the weekly check in for runners to chat Does Monday mornings work for everyone? Do ya'll want to vote on a different group name or keep this one?
This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.
Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.
How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... I ran 9.3 miles last week, which is less than my usual. I have been trying to get back on track. I usually run around 13mi/week. I planned to go running yesterday and tried again today but it has been non-stop raining here!
My runs were ok this week. Did 9.3 as well, @Tonyacody06! My usual is 9.3 of runs and another 9.3 of walks with my neighbor. I have just been feeling tired and haven't been able to run the whole 5K
@LilNunz1 I love your handheld water bottle option! I will definitely look into this! My running store didn't have a handheld that also holds my iphone. I can't run without music to keep pace!
I use a amphipod hydration pack. You can order it how you want it so if you want one bottle and no storage pack or 2 bottles etc. I have 2 bottles and a zipper storage pouch. I was spotting over the weekend. A tiny bit smaller than a dime. But it had me paranoid so I haven't ran although I am supposed to tomorrow. I did a 10 k two weeks ago and it went really well. I have only been doing 3 miles once or twice a week since then. Hoping to get some energy pack and pick it up.
I had a BAD running week - maybe 6 miles - ha! Finding it hard to fit in as I'm so slow getting going in the AM and then have to be at work. So doing more walking and some exercises at home.
I've not done long runs long enough to need anything in quite some time. I use my BOB tray thingy for water since I'm typically running with the kids - which would be another reason running has been harder because that double BOB weighs a sh!t ton when you are already feeling puny
I don't really consider myself a "runner" but maybe this thread will motivate me. I started running a month before I got my BFP. I was up to 2.6 miles at that point. Since my BFP I have reduced my runs to 2 miles or less. (2.6 was really pushing)
I was sick the majority of last week, so I only ran 1 day, for less than 2 miles. It's hard to slow down when I was making so much progress but at least I'm doing something!
I only carry my IPod & I wear my husband's GPS watch to track my runs.
Some of those cases with the plastic covers can be hard to use if using an app for miles. I had one years ago and my fingers never worked through the plastic quite right, so whenever I tried to stop the app when I was done, I always had to take out the phone from the case and do it.. tacking on time I wasn't actually running. It was so annoying! That was maybe 4 years ago, though, maybe they make them better now.
Have you ever considered a Garmin or anything like it? To track your miles? I prefer that WAY over apps, I feel it's more accurate. And it's on your wrist like a watch so simple to use.
@TonyaCody06 - I have the same belt as you and love it! I have my house key in there, my water and my iPhone. I've gone through SO many and that's been my favorite. Oh, I also keep a few gels in there for energy on long runs.
I ran 20 miles this week. Could be worse, could be better. I struggled in the beginning of the week with morning sickness, but it let up. I had a super busy week, though, so it was hard to get it in.
I ran 20 miles last week. That's usually my average. I'm trying to keep it up! I find if I do it first thing, before eating, and don't give myself a chance to feel sick, that's when I'm best.
I haven't been doing many long runs, but I'm a minimalist and do not bring much with me.

I usually wear an amphipod running belt with my phone in it and use Runkeeper and Nike Plus to track my mileage. I have a little water pouch I put in the belt for the occasional long runs over 4 miles.
I am so glad you started this thread. It makes me feel so much better.
Earlier this summer I did my first half marathon. I've tapered off since then though and have done my normal runs up until my BFP, usually between 8-12 miles per week and I did a 5k a couple days before my BFP and felt great.
Then as soon as I got the positive my husband and my dad started freaking out about me running and made me feel guilty like I wasn't being responsible or something. I knew it is ok and healthy to keep up your normal work out routine, but then this weekend when I was barely a half mile into a different 5k the lady next to me loudly told her friend about how when she was a younger runner she miscarried her first two babies and then her dr. told her to take time off running and she then had 3 healthy babies in the following years. The lady freaked me out and I ended up walking the rest of the 5k with her ridiculous words ringing in my ears. She really scared me.
Anyway, I only walked last week but I'm going to get back to it. I need the exercise and I am usually pushing a stroller with my other two kids in it, so my slow pace is even slower. It isn't likely I am going to hurt anything going as slow as I do.
~*~Teacher turned SAHM to DD and DS. Expecting baby #3 June 2014~*~
Well, to be honest not bad. I am only running when I feel okay, which last week was twice, and only for around 3'ish miles each time. I figure as long as I can maintain a decent pace for 3 miles through 1st tri I will be able to pick back up once I'm feeling better to my usual 4-6. My easy pace was previously 8:15-8:30 min/mile...but I'm now hovering around 9:00 min/mile. I'm okay with that.
GTKY: How do you carry all your crap on long runs? What do you carry--or are you a minimalist?
I'm a minimalist I guess. I only fuel for runs over an hour or 7+ miles. I won't carry water either unless it's hot. When I do bring stuff with me, I use my jacket pocket or the zippered pouch on my shorts/capris/tights. I have a handheld Nathan waterbottle thats nice too, it has a little zippered pouch on the side that is perfect for a gel.
How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... My runs the last two weeks have been non-existent I ran a half marathon 3 days after my bfp and have only been walking since then. Mostly due to being way to busy between school and work, but I also think I'm subconsciously nervous because I started spotting after a run during my first pregnancy (ended in miscarriage). I think if I see a good ultrasound Thursday morning I will feel much better. I want to get back to at least 9-10 miles/week and keep it up as long as possible. Hoping this thread will help keep me accountable!
GTKY: How do you carry all your crap on long runs? What do you carry--or are you a minimalist? I use an armband for my ipod - house key fits in there. Usually any run over 3-4 miles I carry water in a handheld that has a zipper pouch large enough to hold either my phone, car keys, or some chews for a long run. Actually looking forward to winter runs when I can get back to my jacket with pockets - that was sooooo nice when I trained for my first half last winter!

BFP#1 2/21/13 - Chemical Pregnancy
BFP #2 3/27/13 - Missed Miscarriage @ 8 Weeks - D&C
BFP#3 9/25/13 - EDD 6/3/14
Hopefully this will help motivate me to keep running. Before this pregnancy I would run 9 miles a week, now I'm lucky to do 5. Last week I only did two runs, each was just about 2 miles. I'm just too tired and start to feel like I'm going to puke or poop after 1 1/2 miles.
What a great turn out for our 1st weekly running check in! I am impressed with all the exercise ladies
@Cherylwang I'm jealous of your 10k! I really wanted to do one before a bfp but it didn't happen.
@MrsB1029 what are side stitches? like muscle cramps?
@ncbelle I give credit to stroller runners b/c I just can't imagine how much harder it makes it to push kids!
@ItttyBitttys keep it up! don't push yourself but just keep going
@AllyTales I know what you mean about the thick plastic. My DHs armband is like that and I hate it. I have been eyeing a Garmin but I am secretly waiting for this new tracking device coming out called the Amiigo. It looks awesome! But it wouldn't have the instant feedback I don't think since it plugs in to upload data. Are Garmins worth the price?
@kmw722 20mi/week?!?! I'm impressed!!! I don't think I've gotten above 13mi/week but I still fairly new to this.
@SandyD83 I also use Runnkeeper app. I have a future goal of a 1/2 marathon! My DH is the opposite. He wants me to keep running during this pregnancy!
@Lynnja616 how do you fuel? I was out of gas at the 6-7mi mark. I have tried NUUN and never again! I had terrible gas pains from a 1/2 tab!!! I am in South TX so my runs have been HOT! I have to take water for over 3mi.
@BruiserB I get nervous on my runs worried I will see spotting afterwards. I'm sorry you wen't through that but know that running was not the cause of a m/c!
@JenniCollins I literally cracked up laughing at your comment! Just keep going You already woke up early and got out the door to run so make it count
Morning sickness was kicking my butt last week. I was running 10-12 miles a week but I only did 2 last week with a couple more if just walking. I was feeling up to going today, but it was raining. I'm hoping I feel good and the weather is good in the morning!
I only carry my phone. I've tried to use an armband but I mess with my music and running apps so much it was just annoying. Now I just hold it in my hand.

@TonyaCody06- Garmin is TOTALLY worth the price for me. I've had mine for a year, and I'm not sure how I ran without it. (I used mapmyrun app before that). There are many Garmins out there with lots of different prices, so you can look around and see what suits your budget and needs. Mine also comes with heart rate monitor- you wear a strap around your chest. I've found that especially helpful while pregnant, so I know I'm not overworking myself. Garmin also has super good customer service. I needed something replaced because it broke on me, and they sent free of charge 11 months after I bought
@TXSparky where in TX are you? I'm in San Antonio. I've tried running the past 2 mornings and it's been raining! ugh.
@TonyaCody06 we just moved to Oklahoma in May. I was in Flower Mound outside of Dallas before the move. It's been raining all the way up here too! I'm really hoping for good weather tomorrow!

Love this check-in as I hope to run through this pregnancy! I didn't with my first...
How were your runs this week? I only ran once last week - 5 miles :-(. I was battling exhaustion and also some soreness from my half marathon 10/6. Also, had my first OB appt today, and wanted to discuss running and any limitations with him (none!). I also walked 3 miles one day, but definitely need to get back on the horse this week!
I pretty much just carry the water, though I've been experimenting with Gu and gatorade chews and such. I have to say, though, the Gu makes me want to puke, especially now that I'm pregnant!
For all my runs, I bring my iPhone and carry it with an arm band. I use it to track my distance, pace, etc. with MapMyRun and also to listen to music.
Oh good! Hopefully this thread is just what I need to get motivate. I am once again working my way through the couch to 5K program (I keep making it through the program... falling off and end up having to start all over again months later).
@TonyaCody06 Yeah like stomach cramps on my right ride just below my ribs. I haven't had one since probably middle school. I think its because my breathing has changed a bit.
Re: *~* Born To Run June Bugs*~*
GTKY: How do you carry all your crap on long runs? What do you carry--or are you a minimalist? I use a front wearing water belt that also holds my iPhone. I love it! I tried on the back belts but didn't like them and am not graceful at trying to get the water bottle back into the slots. I hope it will continue to work while pregnant. Here is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/iFitness-12-OZ-Hydration-Black-X-Large/dp/B00A49SCFM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1381759997&sr=8-2&keywords=running+water+belt+ifitness

I carry a water bottle that holds my phone when I am on my own. Otherwise it goes in my Diono buggy buddy on the stroller. https://www.nathansports.com/hydration/handhelds/quickdraw-plus
I ran a little over 15 miles last week. I was having major issues with side stitches, but yesterday I did a 10k and no side stitches. Woohoo!
I usually only carry my phone on an arm band when doing morning runs (usually an hour) and for longer runs I take my Nike Cheyenne Vapor backpack.
I'm hoping I can continue and keep up for the next 8 months+.
