Need advice for LO's cough

So DS has been sick over a week with a runny/stuffy nose and bad cough at night. I've been doing a humidifier, vick's on the chest/feet, hyland's cough syrup and the saline spray and ball syringe. I don't know what else to do, last night was the worse as he was constantly coughing, I don't know how much he actually slept. Think I'll be going to the doctor today, I hope they can give him something to knock this out Both DS and mommy aren't getting any sleep, not fun!

Thank you @EAMartin1004 it hasn't been fun. I feel bad for him, he's not getting good sleep so super grumpy. Going to the doctor today at 3:45 so hopefully they give us some meds or tell us we can give him something else.

You are doing all I can think of.  A cold should be reaching it's peak after about a week, so if you are not seeing any improvement or signs of worsening after a week, for sure take him in.

How does his cough sound? That is another thing you want to think about. If it is sounding congested, or is it sounding like a barking seal?  The bark sound could indicate something more serious.

Hope he clears up soon!  We are all fighting head colds with coughs in our house too - not fun!

I would take him to the Dr. at this point, too. One more thing you could try to give him (and you!) some relief at night is to prop up the mattress at the head end. Just place a rolled up towel under the mattress to elevate it a bit. Alex always coughs more when he lays flat when he has a cold.

His cough sounds like it's rattling phlegm so hopefully it's not too serious. I hope you all feel better soon too, I think it's that time of year unfortunately. I haven't gotten sick yet so hopefully I won't! Are you from MN? I saw the Twins hat on your DS so had to ask

@jmcmahon21 - yep we are from MN. DS loves that hat & lives in it. It is "just like dad's". Although teh Twins are nothing to be proud of these days... nor the Vikings Are you a MN momma too?

Did you bring him to the Dr as of yet? I couldn't believe how big a difference 24 hours made in our house.  I went from feeling like pneumonia coming on one day to feeling like the cold magicaly lifted the next!  Hope you guys are seeing soem relief too.

That's funny, the picture is really cute! Yea we're in MN too, suburb outside of St. Paul. Yea we went to the doctor monday he has a ear infection and a virus, poor guy. At least he's on some penicillin but hasn't really kicked in too much yet.

Oh no sorry to hear about the ear infection!  Poor guy!!!  Is he feeling any better?

His cough is probably the worst part, I think it's getting better. He didn't even act like he has an ear infection so I of course had no idea! The meds for his ear are giving him diarrhea of course, this has been a long almost 2 weeks. We're hibernating this weekend
