What's the best option here?

I haven't received child support since BD quit his job in May. This also made DS's insurance benefits go away. DS now had a new job, but claims that I will get only get child support from his tax return next year.

What is my best move here? Wait it out and just let it catch up to him? or is there a better option?

  • I would contact Child support enforcement and see if they can withhold it. Where I live if the payor has been delinquent 3 months, they will withhold. Sounds like he's being a big douche if he's waiting for them to take his arrears out of his taxes...

  • Where I live they garnish wages for CS regardless. All the CS agency needs to know if the name of the employer, and they like if you have an address/town, but it's not required. I would call the CS agency and see what the policy is for your area. He sounds like a real douche.

  • Thank you ladies! Where would I find out who to call? The court house?

  • That's where I would start. That's where the CS prosecutor's office is where I live. If not, just talk to the clerk of courts and they should be able to tell you.

  • Do you get any paperwork from the state? In my state it comes from the dept of human services. XH got something from the state of Texas for XSD. Surely you have something like that with a phone or email. Start there.
