I think I just broke the diaper genie...

Ugh, I've been so busy this weekend and had a moment to spare so I started in on assembling some of the nursery items. The diaper genie elite was the task at hand and I clicked the two halves together, but apparently I missed the part where this little rod thing that opens the lid was supposed to go through this little hole. See picture. Anyone know how to unhinge this thing so I can try again?

I'm too frustrated to figure it out on my own. Also I haven't had any luck with YouTube videos.

Okay, so of course I figure out how to fix it after I post this. If anyone else runs into this problem let me know and I'll be happy to share the fix.

I love my diaper genie. My daughter does too, she likes to put things in it when I'm not looking. I found a sick once, and a stuffed animal. They did not come back out. She learned a hard lesson there!

DH set up ours yesterday and forgot to put the Cutter part in, couldn't figure out how to get it apart again.

We got one of these for my work and I of course was told to put it together. I was very frustrated with it but got it done! Glad you got it fixed. And when the bag gets full we call it the yucky caterpillar. Hahaha

Just an FYI, get yourself one of the arm&hammer discs with the suction cup to put under the lid, lasts longer than the diaper genie ones and works good to control the odor.
