Flu vaccine while trying to conceive and when pregnant...

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any information on getting the flu vaccine pre-pregnancy or during pregnancy? I have heard mixed from both nurses and doctors (I am a health care professional but I like to get as much knowledge as possible.) any input you have would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • I agree with pp, I have never heard mixed reactions, I've just heard that it's strongly recommended.  I have received the flu shot every year pregnant or not.

  • Neither my midwife or primary dr said anything about a flu shot. I never get a flu shot.

  • I don't remember what I did when pg with my first son, but I get it every year, so must have gotten one (he was born in Feb). I got my flu shot and whooping cough vaccine when I was in the hospital right after my second was born (his bday is Oct).

The shit is fine if you're pg, but not the mist.

  • Having the flu while pregnant can kill you, so I got the shot. It also gives some immunity to your baby, which is good since newborns can't get the shot.
