How do you do it? Lol, DS is 14 months and full of energy, I am exhausted! How do you keep them entertained so you can relax while pregnant? I don't remember being this tired the with DS (probably cuz I didn't have any children!)
I have been wondering the same! I'm not too exhausted yet but with a rambunctious 2 year old I'm sure it's coming. I was so tired that I slept a ton the first time around, won't be possible this time
I just attempt to keep my daughter busy as much as possible. We go to music class (I sit, she runs around the room), mom & baby yoga, story time at the library, I pull her in her wagon for walks (I can go as slow as I want). As long as I keep going I don't sit and think about how tired I am. Bonus is she takes about a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day.
I agree with keeping busy! If you sit at home and just want them to entertain themselves, they will just be more clingy and want you to be entertaining them.
Lol, thanks! We do story time and we take the dog on daily walks. I just feel like I never wear him out. He does take a decent length nap, but I use that time to clean. He use to play by himself for half an hour. Now not so much.
I'm trying to figure out a good time to get a relax time in and it isn't happening. I work a Ft and a Pt job plus I have a 13 month old. Right now I am battling a cold and I think I'm going to die! This weekend is a holiday weekend (thanksgiving, Yay) and my husband is working a crap load of OT. Grandparents will be very welcomed this weekend!
We do a lot of activities like story time, play dates and an open gym at our rec. I also make her do at least an hour of independent play every day to prep her for this new baby.
My 2 year old is pretty tame and likes to cuddle so I consider myself pretty lucky. On the weekends, we try to go places or place outside a lot where I can put my feet up.

It's been a rough week here. My daughter is 20 months. And don't let the word daughter fool you. She is as wild as any little boy her age. I am also watching my 5 mo niece during the work day. Yes, there's been tears. However, I plan on telling my SIL I need to cut back how much I'm watching her kid.

We have activities a lot of mornings and DS is pretty independent so he can play by himself while I cook or do light cleaning.
Use naptime to relax. Give yourself a break on cleaning, etc once in a while. I have definitely fallen behind on chores lately because I've been napping a lot!
This is what I do if I want to keep an eye on DS while I need to get something done: I give him an activity in his high chair. (Right now its crayons & markers.) I move the high chair to whatever room I'm in and then I can get some chores done without chasing him. I have always done this since he's been mobile. That way you can use naptime to do things you really can't do when he's awake, like NAP!
My daughter is 2.5 and entertains herself very well, she has preschool 2 days a week and we story time also... Other than that meh. I find the more I do with her the more bored she gets at home, so I don't do something every day or I set myself up for misery.
My daughter is 14 months as well. I'm a working mom and thankfully daycare tires her out. She is pretty good at independent play and we read lots of books together. My tiredness hasn't been too bad yet but I know it's coming!

Thankfully mine has always been good about entertaining herself. I ry and play with her and get chores done for the. Out part until nap time, then we both take a nap. It's the only way I can function right now since I hardly sleep at night :-(
I like to sit on the porch and watch while my little guy runs around the backyard. He can play by himself out there for an hour or more, easy, though I do like to join in when I can.
I also have a 14 month old the good news is: I think our pregnancies are gonna feel a lot faster than the first time around. the weeks are flying by while we chase those little ones. we're you on the August 2012 bump board?
Not tired yet with this one. With DS, the tiredness didn't come until 3rd tri.
Since becoming a mom, I just kind of power through being sick with colds and such, so I'm crossing my fingers I will be able to do the same when the tiredness hits.
It will get easier. When DD was around that age, I felt the same way. She's still hyper and busy but a lot more independent and can go play alone in her room, or I can take her to the library/park/play group and she'll run off with her friends. (She's 25 months today)
Once baby #2 comes around, your 1st will hopefully be in a more independent stage too
I just re-read your question: I'm far more exhausted this time around too. I was just saying to my husband being pregnant and having the toddler is way harder than just being pregnant.
I just nap when I can (when she naps, stop to watch a show, etc) and call on grandma a little more often, lol.
I don't know how I am keeping up with both of mine all day, but as soon as they are in bed, I am out like a light. Luckily my husband works from home, so he can pitch in here or there if I need it.
I haven't felt tired yet but boy am I scared for that to happen! I was never tired my first pregnancy and always felt awesome, but, I didn't have a toddler then. I am literally praying for a duplicate pregnancy!
Luckily my 14 month old will play independantly with her toys. I've spent several days on the couch while she plays. This pregnancy has been so different, not much morning sickness but a ton of exhaustion.
I feel the same way -- I napped so much when I was pregnant the first time around -- so I have just been trying to go to bed early, and then usually when I get home from work I take Cam to the park so he can run around, and I can sit. It's going to be tough when the weather gets nasty!
