Anyone else with a toddler who just randomly babbles or talks nonsense? My son has been in speech for awhile, but is actually about to test out before he turns three. And I've been so happy with his progress but lately he seems to babble and say things that aren't words and it sounds very baby talk like.
I asked his st about it and she said she doesn't see that at all and actually said my son is doing so well. I can see her not seeing it because he seems to not do it web engaged in something
It's just stressing me out so thought I would ask if anyone else is experiencing this. Thanks.

My DS sounds like that, but he does have a speech delay, so I am not sure if that's much help.
Is there another program he can transition into after his birthday? Every place is different, but around here, the county school system takes over EI services when kids turn 3. I am actually hopeful that we might be able to get in there when DS turns 3 because our state-funded EI program before age 3 is very, very difficult to get into.
Is he doing it often with you, or just occasionally? Sometimes G will morph into a conversation with her baby that doesn't consist of any words I can understand. She does that when she makes up songs sometimes too. And she does the baby talk on occasion also. Here and there wouldn't be all that concerning to me, but G hasn't had any speech issues, and I might be more concerned about it if that were the case.
He is being evaluated before three but his speech therapist said no way he will qualify. His special instruction therapist dismissed him in the summer. He only got special instruction because in my country they give that to you with in conjunction with any therapy.
It's not like he has lost any language or is going backwards in the sense that he isn't saying things anymore. He's actually been saying new things all the time. He says sentences and has conversations with me.
My mom took him to the zoo earlier and he told me all about it when asked and then they went to dinner and said "no mommy daddy I go with grandma not you" and I would say he speaks in sentences about that length all the time.

I've noticed Nicholas does this- and he is in speech thru EI until his birthday in November- he already has had his evaluation with the school district- he will be receiving services from the school district- I don't know what exactly it will look like until the 24th when I have a meeting with everyone to discuss this and his IEP (our school district has a preschool that is for those students with delays- or they will offer individual sessions depending on the delay and the percentage of delay ).
Your LO sounds like he might just be exploring sounds and being a little "silly"- I think this is what Nicholas is doing- your son is saying sentences and using the pronoun "I"- Nicholas will not use I he might say me- but this is where we are stuck now- he does not use I phrases.
i would say that oliver's language is advanced for his age, and he does what your son is describing sometimes. he plays with words and sounds a lot. i see it as him playing and experimenting and as an overall positive thing. since your LO is doing this in addition to other appropriate language, i wouldn't worry about it. if the babbling were the only type of language he had, i then i would worry. ps, im a speech therapist
also, just a reminder, that even if he is dismissed from services now, at ANY time if you are worried that he is behind again, you can request another assessment. school services are more strict about qualifying (needs to be negatively impacting academic performance/participation), but you can always be referred by your pedi, or pay for private services if you like.
