Flu Shot ?

So I just heard back from the pedi's office and Nolan hasn't even had his first Flu shot yet. He starts a new day care in a couple of weeks. I'm already anticipating lots of sickness.

Problem is...we're going on vacation for 6 days next TR through the following Thursday. I can't do Tues of next week. Their only mid-day appt on Monday is at 12:15 right at naptime and when I brought him back to DC it would still be naptime and the teacher might kill me. It's currently scheduled for Wed. in the hopes that DH can take him. My in laws will probably already be here and would love some extra time with him. BUT then we leave the next day. If he is miserable from the shot I hate to leave that to my in-laws.

I can't do it the next week because I'm already on vacation 2 days, have a dentist appt and I have to take time for paperwork/new daycare stuff. Perhaps I could postpone my dentist appointment.

If I wait longer than that I might be messing with his daycare adjustment.

So...when would you do it?

Re: Flu Shot ?

  • I would do it Monday and the daycare teacher could deal. I sure they can find somewhere for him to be that won't disturb the other children if he's wanting to be awake rather than sleep.

I would do this too. If he ends up feeling crappy from it, at least you'll have a few days before you leave for vacation. I would rather risk anger from the DC teacher than have a cloud hanging over my vacation because I'm worried about leaving a fussy baby. Besides, daycares should be used to dealing with kids coming and going. You're switching anyway, right, so who cares if they get mad?

Agreed. Don't forget no matter how difficult he is, daycare teachers get to give him back at the end of the day. There's not anyone to give him to on vacation....well, no one has bought Howell the times I have tried to sell him, anyway.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • Thanks guys! Sorry this was a P and R. I can't do it today. He had an elevated temp over the weekend. Fudge.
