Can you iron burlap?

Or will I burn my house down. Trying to get creases out of a remnant piece of burlap to make a table runner. Can I iron it or do something else?

You should be able to--just set the iron on low to start with in case the burlap has any synthetic in it.  Do you know the fabric content?  If not, I would just keep the temp super low.  Or it might melt onto your iron and that's just gross.

If you're worried you can also put it under an old cotton towel to start with, too, and iron through the towel.

Yes. I made no sew curtains with burlap and stitch witchery which requires ironing. No harm done!!
