DE consult (Long)

I have to begin by professing my LOVE for my new RE! I have to thank Zazu13 for recommending her! I was a little embarrassed because I started crying as soon I began to talk, and my new RE was so understanding. It was very reassuring and comforting to know she didn't judge me for crying.

My new RE agrees we should move to DE, but not solely based off my severe DOR. She feels that with DOR age is a better indication for success than eggs retrieved. She feels that we should move to DE, more so because of DH’s balanced translocation (BT). She said with BT it's a good chance 75% of our embryos could be abnormal. We need a lot of eggs to work with vs. the two they would most likely retrieve if we used mine. She mentioned that known donor, DE cycles are less successful than anonymous donors, because she is more worried about OHSS, as they do not know how hard to push stimulants with a known donor, if that makes sense.

Plan: My cousin will have her consult. We will then meet with a lawyer and have legal paperwork written up. I will have to have a saline sonogram. Then DE IVF #1. We will do day 5 pgd and pgs on the embryos, freeze all and then FET#1.

I have to say, I didn't know we could test the embryos for BT, which is done via pgs. I was told at another clinic they can only test for unbalanced and balanced/normal embryos, as there was no way to tell if an embryo has BT vs a normal embryo. I am happy to hear this because those who are carriers of BT are at high risk for RPL, if we can prevent our future children having BT it will decrease the likely hood they will have fertility issues. That was a big concern for me.

Once we have a timeline I will post with an update! I am still very nervous about cycling again. The thought of another failed cycle terrifies me. However, the thought of living child-free is a greater fear, so cycling is the choice we have made!

Oh no! Shit! Why can't anything go as planned. I'm so sorry hon. Do they have a list of donors you could look through for one you like? I know you said your cousin would be your donor but maybe the clinic had used others or they have a donor program?

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear your donor backed out. Why is there always another bump in the road?! Hopefully you will find another one soon. She is definitely out there! GL!!!!
