Victor- the robot vacuum

Last year I was home sick one day and my husband sent me a text message about a robot vacuum (Neato), at a moment of weakness I told him to go ahead a buy the vacuum. I have to tell you every pregnant lady should have a Victor (this is what we named the robot vacuum/ it has a meaning but I have pregnancy brain and don't recall his initials meaning). Victor vacuums floors without my doing anything. He is scheduled to clean the floors 3 times a week while we are at work, picking up dog hair and crumbs at every sweep!!! He maps the room using GPS so he doesn't beat my furniture! I have been know to say I like him better than the dogs a few times. I still have to use the vacuum to get baseboards, and carry him to the other floors and push a button to make him clean those floors but he is a pregnant ladies best friend!!!

Re: Victor- the robot vacuum

  • The Neato does hardwood and carpet without issues, and he vacuums those rascally bathroom rugs that regular vacuums chew up! He does a great job and if he gets tired (battery needs charged) he goes back to his charger and the remembers exactly where he was when he is rejuvenated! Woman's best friend! DH did research and the Neato seemed to out perform Roomba! He picked it up in a web special.

  • We are about to move to an apt with nothing but carpet, so this is DEFINITELY on my Christmas list this year!  Anyone have an opinion on Roomba vs. Neato? or any other brands for that matter?  Thanks for posting this!  I have been thinking about it for the last few days :)

  • He saved my back, I can vacuum all the other area rugs I. Out house with the Dyson, but out tv room off the kitchen for done reason it is like trying to push a steam roller across the carpet to vacuum! Victor does a fantastic job and I don't have to lift a finger!
  • Thanks @CFox815!  I need to know about the sucking power of these things... I just don't want to pay a ton of money for something that doesn't suck up all the stuff... said Tim.

Seriously though, that is good to know :-)  Thank you

  • We have hardwood, tile, laminate, and area rugs large and small in all of our rooms (various degrees of carpet depth) the Neato does a great job. The refuse container has to be emptied regularly and the beater cleaned like any vacuum but it seriously does a great job. If there are areas we don't want it to go, we put down a strip of magnets and it avoids the magnet. Took a while to teach it that it couldn't go under one of our coffee tables but it did learn. It starts by assessing the room with a laser, then cleans the perimeter and goes back and forth to clean the room. I can get by using a regular vacuum about once a month to get corners, baseboards, and up close to the furniture as it is about and inch or 2 that it has challengers with hugging walls and furniture. Since we have hardwood I can usually avoid the perimeter vacuuming because we use a hardwood mop every other week to dust and polish all the rooms other than kitchen and bath. It's truly a lifesaver for busy people who like clean floors especially if you have pets that shed, little people with crumbs or messy husbands. Just make sure to pick up the toys before it runs do it doesn't get stuck on small toys. It is funny to watch the dogs with the vacuum, if they lay down the vacuum avoids them, but sometimes they follow it around.
  • We have the one for the hardwood floors (the irobot) and it's AMAZING!!! Worth every penny! Especially with the dogs because they track stuff in Everytime they go out
