Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Teething

My LO isn't in this age category yet, but I figured you gals would have more experience with teething. The past two days, my LO has been behaving oddly but doesn't have a fever or signs of illness. She has been extremely fussy off and on all day. She normally cat naps during the day but sleeps really well at night; now it is suddenly a huge struggle to get her to bed. She is having a hard time eating too, except during her MOTN feeding. Tried burping, playing, not playing, more stimulation, less stimulation, feeding, changing diaper, etc. She has been waving her arms a lot like she is mad and trying to eat her feet and hands. I actually had to swaddle her for the first time in a long time just so she would stop trying to eat them. Is this how your LO was before they popped out a tooth? She is 20 weeks old.

Re: Teething

  • You're in the 4 month wakeful. It's a challenging stage!!! Difficulty sleeping, and very active and distracted during awake times. It started taking me a good half hour to give J his bottle. It will get better. It lasted about a month for us.

  • I imagine every baby is different when teething. Mine becomes more fussy in general all day. She is very clingy and only wants mom. She also eats everything in sight. She doesn't nurse well (pulls off, tugs ear, won't eat more) and also wants to comfort nurse all night in bed with me. She usually also wakes somewhere from 2am-4am and won't settle back to sleep.
  • That sounds really familiar.
