Sleep help

Hi ladies. I mostly lurk but enjoy reading everyones advice! My DD was born on 3/5. From the beginning, we had issues with her sleep due to reflux. We created bad habits by having to keep her upright so long before putting her down in my opinion. We finally got her almost STTN in the RnP but had to transition out of that due to her rolling over. She did well with the transition to the PnP where she is sleeping now. For a solid 3 weeks she was sleeping 9p to 7a. Now for the past week and a half she is up at least once, mostly 3-4 times a night. She doesn't want to eat, just wakes up lifts her head, moves around and makes noise, I try to pat her back to get her to go back to sleep, doesn't work. I end up having to pick her up and lay down with her because by that point I'm so exhausted, I am just doing what I can. I know this is also creating bad habits. Do you ladies have any suggestions? Could this just be a phase? Should I sleep train? Naps are hit or miss as well, some days I get an hour out of her others I do good to get 15 min. She is happy but clearly lacking in sleep, you can tell by the dark circles around her eyes. I know there have been many posts about this, but just looking for some advice. Thanks!

Re: Sleep help

  • Yes, still in my room. I have considered it, but my husband isn't too keen on the idea. He has been so scared since she had reflux, which is 95% better now. Thanks for the advice! I hadn't considered that I may be waking her even more.
  • I agree about the sleep cycles and sometimes not interfering being better. We have a baby moniter and a few times a night I can see that he wakes up, opens his eyes and moves around the crib making noises, rolling over and then goes back to sleep. I only go in if he is actually crying.

  • My DS has started randomly waking up completely in the middle of the night to play.  Now that he pulls himself up we walk into the room to find him standing in his crib with a big grin on his face.  We have found that playing calming music along with his white noise machine helps him fall back asleep.  I created a play list of songs from Enya and Celtic Woman.  It has worked with him since he was born.  If you find she can't get herself back to sleep on her own you might want to try that.

  • Thanks for the advice ladies! I didn't do anything different and she slept 9:30-6 last night. Fingers crossed for it to continue!
