MDO photos. What the F?!?

We had the "viewing" of MDO photos today and I was absolutely SHOCKED at the prices. It's MDO. He's 1. It's not even real school yet.

What were prices like for your kids "school" photos? Did you buy them? Do you think it's worth it?

Kellen's were cute, but I have taken cuter pics on my phone. I just feel like a bad mom if I don't have every single one of his "school" pictures for some reason. I'm considering just buying 1 measley 5x7 picture for a whopping $15 and calling it a day. :(

A photographer does school pictures at LOs DC.  The prices seem expensive but I usually buy one of the digital images so I can print the size I want.  She sells the digital file for $30, and four 4x5 of the same image for $15.  They also do a class photo which is 5X7 that she sells for $15.  She has various packages so you can get multiple pictures.

This would make me go broke and probably for the best that my daycare doesn't do this.  I'm a sucker for photos so I would almost always buy, especially if they are cute.  So I'm not much help.  But I do agree photo prices can get rather pricey.
That's the thing, they are really cute. I mean, he's wearing a bow tie for pete's sake! He is only slightly smiling, but I think I may just get the one and try to make copies somehow with a photo printer and scanner or something. Is that legal? Haha

That is ridiculous!  I would pass on  the pictures.
  • I haven't seen prices at the new place yet, but last year's were expensive and the pictures were awful.  I felt bad not buying, but I take plenty.  Neither of us will care if the picture was taken in the backyard or at school in the long run.

  • Yeah mine does them twice a year. They are about $70 for a package with 3 different shots and a mix of sizes. They were hilarious which is why I bought the first package. I doubt I will buy many of the second set this year unless they are amazing. I would totally scan and call it good. BTW some of her shots were with a porcelain frog. WTF.

    Hahahahahahah!! What?!?!

And I thought this was pretty funny too: The most expensive package available at K's MDO includes a HUGE oil painting. Who wants a $250 ginormous oil painting of their kid's DAYCARE PHOTO??? Creepy.

  • @hijoi The cheapest "package" they have includes 4 of the same size (portrait) pictures for $54!

The cheapest package that allows more than just one size picture is $97 and it comes with 8 portraits and one 10x13 "collage". Based on y'alls prices, I'm thinking I am getting ripped off. It's unbelievable.

  • The prices at dc here are outrageous. like 100$ just for the digital file. Redic. I was volunteered to help with pics though so I got them free which is a waste cause they were terriby creepy. They were vintage and the dress was too big and Coopers face was awkward. She looked a scary ghost baby
