If you're using Colief and EBF, when did you notice a difference? We are on day two. Administering it is a PITA, but I will pretty much try anything at this point to make my baby happy. We've tried Gripe Water, Gas Drops, Colic Calm, Infant Probiotics and Baby Zantac. Colief is my last resort.
So far, I haven't noticed a difference. The only thing is she is now spitting up more. I think this is probably due to getting a couple syringes of pumped milk before her feeding. If she can't keep it down though, it probably won't work anyway.
So, if you use it, when did you see a change?
Re: Using Colief?
She never spit up more with it, just became more content. Also using infant probiotics. I noticed an improvement in 3-4 days of starting Colief and definitely notice when we do not use it.
I'm really bummed to hear this didn't work for you.
Do you think there is a chance your LO has reflux? My DD1 did, DD2 does not seem to so far. DD1 did a lot of angry crying during and after feedings. Some babies do or do not actually spit up with it. Babies with reflux arch their backs, have a howling scream, often turn red and stiffen their bodies.
She does all those thing you mentioned, though less often since starting the Zantac. She also still drools and pushes her tongue out a lot, which I know can be other reflux symptoms. And she still fights her feedings at times.
I use a syringe because dd won't take anything else from me.
Sorry, I realize this may be kind of a "dead topic" at this point, but I thought this might be helpful.
We tried Zantac and got no progress. We switched to Prevacid and she was new baby in 2 weeks. Any idea if your ped would consider switching meds? We used the suspension of Prevacid which had to be prepared at a compounding pharmacy. It had to be refrigerated but it was well worth it.
If you do this, you may want to suspend the Colief and other stuff except the probiotics. That way you can get a baseline for how she is doing and then see what things really need to be added.
I know the pain of the reflux-y baby well.
