Amazing drs are out there!

We had a very different birthing situation this time around. We moved to a new state a month before my due date, plus since my hubby started a new job, our insurance would not kick in until after the baby's due date. Therefore I had to be placed on Medicare so i was covered should she come early. Then I could not find a practice that would accept me because I was on Medicare, or because I was too far along. This was the most frustrating and bizarre few days as I tried to figure out where I would have this baby and who would deliver! I ended up going to a Salvation Army health clinic, who then referred me to the local clinic run by the hospital. At my appointments I would see the residents but never actually met any of the drs who deliver the babies. Needless to say I was a little nervous about who would deliver our baby especially since I was trying to have a vbac. I went into labor a week early in the middle of the night (just like with my son). Contractions were so strong and intense my hubby and I were out the door an hour later. We dropped off our son at a friends house, and checked into the hospital. I was 7 cm dialated and in transition as they were checking me in. I decided on my way to the hospital that I wanted the epidural and I'm so glad I did. I was up to 9 cm shortly thereafter but the issue was that the baby had not dropped into my hips yet. So from about 7 am-1:45 pm I was on my hands and knees, laying on my side with my legs up, and anything else I could think of to get that baby down. I started pushing at 1:45, and man was it slow going. I had them turn the epidural down so I could feel the contractions better. I tried pushing on my hands and knees, on my back, on the squatting bar...for 3 hours...ugh she was sooooo close, I could see her! My dr was absolutely incredible during this whole time. She was encouraging, and did everything she could to help. I knew they didn't want me pushing for more then 3 hours so I lost it when I got to that point. But right when the dr advised trying the vacuum, I had a few great pushes that got baby girls head right there. The dr told them to not use the vacuum and several pushes later, out Callia Jada came!! I feel like drs get such a bad rap these days, but wow what an amazing experience we had!
