Advice on breaking child from pacifier...

Ok, my DS is 18 mo old, and my DH and I are looking to wean him off his pacifier (he takes randomly through the day, at naptime and bedtime). Any advice on the easiest way to go about this? He's an excellent sleeper and has been since about 3 mo, but he's always had the paci. Bottle breaking wasn't an issue at all, but I have a feeling this will be a challenge for all of us.

Re: Advice on breaking child from pacifier...

  • my twins were never paci users, but i have a friend whose 2 daughters were, and she swears by this method (that she got from one of her friends), though others thought it was mean.  i have no idea, since again, i never dealt with pacifiers.  anyway, she cut the end off of the paci, so her daughters would not get the sucking sensation from it that would ease them.  i think she even told that it must be broken...or something.  so they got rid of the paci on their own.  don't know if it'll work, but good luck!
  • Thanks for the suggestion! At this point it's worth a shot.
