So we went to the doctor today for her twenty week appointment. She is off bed rest (thankfully she was going crazy) and I got to find out the gender. The doctor wrote it down on a piece of paper and gave it to me to read when we got home. So I found out today that I am going to be the father of a Baby Girl.

@polooo26 It'll be easier now that she is off bed rest and is going back to work on Thursday and visiting her friend tomorrow so she won't be tempted to snoop. @jack19 and @futant462 Thanks! Hopefully I can keep it a secret until February

@apbloye I talked to her and she promised she wouldn't come on this board and I trust her because she really doesn't want to know all she cares about is that it is healthy. I found out because my friend is making something for our daughter before she is born and give it to her when we bring it home from the hospital and because I have to finish the nursery so far its basically done except for the name that is going up on the wall above the crib which goes up a week before she is born.

I almost told her tonight when we were at the grocery store. I almost told her that we should get the pink princess bottles not the yellow ones. I'm gonna end up spilling the secret and she is gonna get mad. I don't know why I had to find out and not just wait to find out like she is. @polooo26 we both have our own laptops and use those so she hopefully won't see my little girl ticker. Fingers crossed I don't tell her the secret.

Hate to say it, but chances are you'll slip at some point.  You'll use a pronoun or a name, or spend more time looking at pink frilly stuff in the stores...  Hope you don't, but that would be a hard secret to keep.

She has forbidden me from clothes shopping with her now so i'm not tempted. Luckily I have a gift for if I do tell her

Can you also be the nerd to point out the technical difference as well?

Sex is determined by biology and genetics. XY is male, XX is female (and trisomy messes with things).

Gender is a sociological construct. For most people their sex and gender do match. But some cultures don't use only two genders, and some people identify as transgender.
