Progesterone?

My cervix keeps measuring shorter and shorter - currently at 2.05cm, so I asked the Dr. about prescribing Progesterone.  She said it has been shown beneficial for singletons, but no evidence for multiples.  She did say it wouldn't hurt, so she prescribed me Progesterone gel.  Unfortunately our insurance wont cover it, and its $300/month, but that's a whole other battle ;)

Anyone with multiples have their Drs prescribe it and seen any success? I'm obv willing to try anything!

1st Beta: 1046!!!!! - 2nd Beta: 2754!!!!!
First u/s 7/11/2013 - TWINS!!! 120 and 124 heartbeats <3
Second u/s 7/29/2013 - wiggley babies! 178 and 184 heartbeats!
Third u/s 9/9/2013 - 157 and 161 heartbeats ... a BOY and a GIRL!!!! Cervix on the "shorter side" (3-3.3) - going to check again in 2 weeks.
Fourth u/s 9/23/2013 - Baby A = 157 Baby B = 150 heartbeat. Cervix now 2.3-2.6 ... being referred to a MFM
MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

    I am at 35 weeks today with twins and was diagnosed with a shortening cervix at 23 weeks. I went from 1.7 to .7 from 23 weeks to 33 weeks when I went off hospital bedrest. I did hospital bedrest, Procardia for contractions, and progesterone suppositories. I believe progesterone (either suppositories or shots) help maintain cervical length.

    Call your doctor's office and hopefully someone there has experience getting insurance to cover progesterone. It is frustrating. It could be as easy as switching brands or doing shots instead. Good luck.

    I am taking progesterone for shortening cervix. I was at 2.2 at 27 weeks. Currently waiting for my next US now to see if it's working.

    Perhaps progesterone suppositories would be cheaper. That is what I am using. Call the doc and insurance.

    I went on bedrest at 28 weeks for shortening cervix and preterm labor.  I was on Progesterone suppositories for the whole time and made it to just 5 hours shy of 34 weeks.

    I'm at 19w2d now ... its scary to have this happen, and it worries me even more that it's SO early!!!

    I would try asking your doc to write a prescription for a different type. I used suppositories that were not a gel, and they were about $60 a month..
    18 months of active trying

    3 failed letrozole cycles
    2 failed letrozole/IUI cycles 

    BFP on the 3rd (and final) letrozole/IUI cycle before IVF 

    It's TWINS!

    Long story short, my OB started me at 15wks on weekly 17ahp injections with my twins due to history of preterm delivery.
    At 24ish weeks my MFM took over my care due to shortening/funneling, he took me off the injections, saying his research showed the injections did not benefit multiples pregnancies and switched me to Prometrium, oral.
