catheter?

My dh recently had hernia surgery. Since his surgery he said it hurts to pee, like the worst pain he has ever felt. Since I'm not a man I figured I would post it on here. Is that normal to have that pain while peeing after a catheter?

    He just had the surgery. He could really get a uti that quickly?

    Depending on the hernia he had, you can have issue peeing for a little bit post surgery.  If it has been more than a couple days, it very well may be the UTI.  Doesn't hurt to try to treat it anyways.

    I'm a nurse...you can get UTI very fast from catheter. Needs to go ahead and get it taken care of by giving urine specimen to MD and knocking it out with antibiotics.

    The meds are pyridium. They turn your pee orange but work great until the cipro kicks in.

    I had to self cath for a month after having ds. Cue raging utis and bladder infections. Good thing he's so cute...

    Well it stopped hurting after a couple days, thankfully! Dr said thats normal. We called the dr. Thank you for posting!
