Seriously this never ends!

So dr called today.... Looks like my Hcg levels are not going down now.... He says sounds like I could have a tubal pregnancy. Damn. This is so stupid. It just won't end. Now I have to take time off work tomorrow and wed. I need to go have a ultrasound from a different lab because my RE is in LA doing surgeries and I have to deal with this with my reg obgyn. RE thinks I should so the shot of methotrexate. My ob says maybe I should do the ultrasound and get levels again wed before I go that route. Not sure what to do or who to listen to at this point. Really fustrated and nervous... All the info i have read this is pretty serious if its a tubal. Ahhhh

Oh Lacy, I'm sorry. I experienced something similar in February. I'm mad at your doctor for letting you stop betas with a 38 beta and waiting weeks for an u/s!! What was your latest beta number?? Depending on the number, you may not be able to see the sac in the tube. I did not want methotrexate and waited to see what my beta did since the number was low and it didn't seem dangerous to wait. But it depends on your beta number.

So I've had a beta every Monday since I lost it. So first beta since was same day as what was suppost to be my first ultrasound the 25th of sept. that was 700. Then last Monday it went down alot to 185. Then this Monday it was 165. So only went down very little. RE wants me to do the shot. My ob wants me to do another ultrasound. So in going with her on this one and hopefully I won't need the shot. I really don't want to have to get it! Especially since in 4 weeks I have to do surgery for a hysterscopy anyways.next blood test is wed morning and ultrasound is tomorrow at 1.

MAybe ask bridejackie about her experience with this. It took her I think 3 months for her number to go down. I hope this ends for you soon.

Unless they see it in the tube I would just wait at least another week I had the same thing happen and chose to wait and finally my body took care of it. That medicine is awful to take it would be my last choice. I went to acupuncture and had then induce uterine contractions which hurt but did the job by the next week.i had an agreement with my OB about when we would intervene and also if I was in terrible pain to come right in or go to the er

Although I don’t have any first hand experience with methotrexate I agree with waiting until you have an ultrasound and your levels checked again on Wednesday.

I'm so very sorry you are going through with this. With my m/c last year I ended up getting methotrexate. In hindsight I wish I hadn't but the RE's office basically scared / forced me into it. I had it when my levels were still rising (but below 1000). They couldn't see anything on ultrasound in my uterus or tubes. If your levels have already started to go down, I don't understand why it would be necessary. That said, if you do decide to get it, I didn't think it was that bad (physically). Here is my experience if you want to keep reading - I really had no side effects and only had to have the shot once. The harder part was the emotional pain and the waiting to cycle again. (My RE said 3 months). It did take about 10 days after the shot for me to miscarry (pass the sac), 10 days of bleeding and pretty bad cramping, and about 3 weeks total for the hcg to get to zero. Big hugs to you. I wish you weren't in this situation.

I'm so sorry. I went through something similar in March. My betas were yo-yoing and after 2 weeks of that my RE said it was time for the shot. The shot wasn't bad physically. I didn't really have any side effects. I was told you can't eat anything that had folic acid and pretty much everything had folic acid in it so finding foods to eat sucked. I also was told I had to wait 3 months to cycle to ensure the MTX wouldn't deplete folic acid and cause tube defects. I hate this for you. I know how bad it sucks.

Horrible day.!!! I didn't get the ultrasound. Long story short... I showed up 1/2 hr early full bladder hoping they would just get me in.... I waited and waited and reminded them I had a full bladder... And waited some more finally I went up to the girl and said.... I'm Going Pee now!! I went and came out crying... and said im outta here! And went to my car and had a mini melt down. Been kinda freaking out all day wishing I had Xanax and wine but I'm working late and just trying to get through this day so I can go home. OVER this!!!!!

I am so sorry Lacy!  Yes, unfortunately I have been there.  I went week after week for a beta draw.  My beta only got up to 269 and it took about 3 months for it to get below 5.  It was so painful, plus they started charging me for the betas since only the first one or two were covered in my package.  The number declined each time after it had plateaued at 268 just very very slowly.  They considered doing an ultrasound but since it continued to decline, felt it wasn't necessary.  RE felt that a few chrionic villi (future placenta cells) were still attached and releasing b-HCG.   Believe me, I was boozing it up during those 3 months. That for sure given how miserable it was.  I never received methotrexate so I have no experience with that.  The said thing was that the results of my endometrial scratch for FET #2 showed chrionic villi and it brought back all the sadness and grief.  Sending big ((HUGS))!!!  Beta hell blows.
