cough remedies?

Is there any cough medicine we can give lo at this age?  He is 16 months and has a cold with a nasty cough.  We have the humidifier going in his room tonight but I was wondering if anyone has found any cough remedies for young ones. Thanks!

Everything I've read says no cough medicine before the age of 2.I'd say keep up with the humidifier, use suction in his nose, sit in a steamy bathroom.

We do all of the above as well.  When he was about 6 months, it got worse and the doctor ended up prescribing an inhaler, but that's a last resort and we haven't used it in months.

As pervious people said honey works great. Our dr did not want us to use anything over the counter at this age. We used baby Vicks on her as well. The more water you can get them to drink the better. Hope your little one feels better soon.

Our little guy has had the same problem. We've been using a humidifier and  the steamy bathroom. I've also put vicks on his feet under his jammies. Nothing seems to make that much of a difference though.  Hope you little one feels better soon.
