Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Crisco and eczema

DD had her 9 month appt. today and the dr. told us we can use Crisco on her eczema flare ups.  I looked at him like he was crazy, but he was serious.  I looked it up when I got home and apparently people do use it as a home remedy.  Has anyone tried it before and did it work?

Re: Crisco and eczema

  • I haven't heard of that, but I would never put Crisco on my baby. Just couldn't do it. DD has pretty bad eczema, and we have been using Baby Avalon Organic lotion, and it has cleared it up quite a bit.

  • Wouldn't petroleum jelly have the same effect?

I use petr jelly and cetaphil plus Desonide cream (an Rx) when she has a big flare up

Google nyt and eczema (there's an article about it which is pretty darn good)

  • I just filled a Rx for a cream for eczema, because for some reason I get it on my eyelids. Insurance covered it & it was a pretty generous amount. You may want to consider it.

I had eczema on my face/cheeks as a baby, but thankfully grew out of it.
