1st (I'm sure of many) GC roadblock

so when we met with our RE last week, he mentioned that mh would have to give yet another sperm sample, have it frozen, and used for any fert to put into our GC. 

mh called our clinic today to make an appt.

he got called back at the end of the day and was told he has to drive two hours to an FDA-approved lab, deposit a specimen, and then it is quarantined for 6 months! like we haven't been tested to the moon and back already.

we do have two frozen embryos, but as per our new disposition in life post-IF; we plan on those not making it through the thaw like the last time.

just a head's up to all of you thinking of GC.

for any fresh embryos in the US, even if it is my egg and mh sperm we have to go through this stupidity for transfer into a gestational carrier.

no idea why.

i am most irritated the the RE said something about using frozen sperm, but told us nothing about 180  days in quarantine.

hate all the new landmines.

Ummmmm yikes!!!! We have one frozen embryo that we plan on using (for the record, we will literally be transferring it to our new clinic in a cooler....), and we plan on doing another egg retrieval cycle so we have "back up". They never mentioned anything about there being any FDA guidelines around sperm...maybe because we would be doing PGD/PGS testing? Ugh. I will be making some phonecalls tomorrow....

omg, thanks jalara! i was going to read through the info myself but just wasn't up to it tonight.

i think our plan with this info is to still try to do it asap just in case things change (e.g we can't use our current donor) or the government changes regulations.

apparently his office got fined by the FDA at some point on this issue...but you have made my night in that there might be some hope.

I know that mh is up to date on all of his tests because he works in a hospital...ok time to stop obsessing and go to bed. nothing can be dealt with at this hour.
