Reflux bad....

My daughter has had reflux since birth. She is 6 weeks now. She has been on Zantac then Prevacid mayloxx carafate. Now just on carafate and Prevacid. She also diagnosed milk allergie. She is still spitting up/ vomiting to point of choking and vomiting is at times projectile. She even got a rash from the milk allergy but took drs weeks to figure out. Now I'm just really concerned with her still spitting up a lot. I know baby's spit up but should not choke. I keep her up right for a 30- and an hour after eating. Good thing is she is still gaining weight. Anyone else have these issues? Any advice or???? Going for upper gi swallowing X-ray tomorrow.

  • At that point, I'd go with the swallow study and based on those results have them look into possible EoE.  BF or FF?

Have you eliminated dairy if BF or found the right formula if FF?

Check out the food allergy board as well.  It's VERY possible that LO isn't JUST allergic to dairy.

  • It definitely sounds like you need to follow up with your LO's doctor.  However, you might also look at whether you're feeding with an elevated head, burping frequently, having his sleep with head elevated, feeding less milk at a time at a slower pace but more frequently.  I also agree with the PP that there may be some other foods contributing to your LO's issues.  Look at the family history on both sides and talk to the grandparents.
