Ok, you ladies seem to be really ahead of me in the potty training area! We have a potty seat on the toilet and DD will sit on it before her bath, but she has never actually done her business in the toilet. I think she's ready to start the potty training process, but I have absolutely no clue where to begin. Anybody have any books to recommend or tips on how to get started?
Also - she goes to daycare and they don't work on potty training until the kids are in the twos room. Should I wait until then to work on it so there is consistency, or will starting at home now be helpful?
Re: Potty Training?
My pedi said that 2 an a half is about the age for girls and 3-4 for boys.. all he told us was when we start trying to use the big toilet make sure he has something to stand on as they need to have their feet on something solid as the leaning forward stance is what puts pressure on the bladder to pee.
He has sat on the toilet insert but was very unimpressed and we just got a potty which he will sit on and read with me, but not used it yet. We just have the tools for when he is ready, no rush here and since he isn't in daycare we aren't under pressure to potty train on their schedule instead of his.
If you aren't shy.. monkey see, monkey do would be my method. My lil guy shouts Pee everytime I go to the bathroom lol.. so he knows what it is for. We aren't "shy" parents..lol
