My LO is going on 5 months old in a few days....when we first brought her home she slept in our room in a RNP for about 8 weeks, once she started looking like she was getting uncomfortable sleeping in there we moved our PNP into our room to get her used to sleeping in a bigger space and a flatter surface..The PNP we have is one of those Graco combo ones where the bottom can sit higher...the first 2 nights she woke up an extra time, so we just gave her a small feeding and would lay her back down....for a few weeks she would sleep from about 730pm till about 3-4 am...wake up for a feeding and go back to sleep for about 2-3 more hours.....I should add that our nighttime routine is very repetitive, her last bottle is given to her in my room with me, lights out, sound machine on (Ocean or rain sounds) and her mobile on as well which plays music for approx 20mins...I will feed her and place her on chest with her paci and pat her back until she falls to sleep then I remove her paci and lay her down...she is swaddled with her arms out...every other night she gets her bath before this routine. Once she had a solid few weeks with that 7-8hr span of sleep when she would wake up at that 3-4 am bottle I would then take her to the nursery and feed her in rocker, again lights out with her sound machine on (I would change to heartbeat sound and stick it in crib at footside) and again place her on my chest with paci and pat back until she was asleep and then lay her in crib...we did this for 2 weeks and she would sleep that 2-3 hours span in the crib no problem...it was basically in my eyes forming that routine...prior to all of this I would place her in her crib several times a day and coo at her and rub her tummy and she would love her kitty mobile so this I feel got her used to the surroundings...I tried the whole nap thing but she wouldnt last more then 20-30 mins in there... Just recently I started making that bedtime routine in nursery and laying her down in crib from the get go instead of the PNP...she has slept that past few nights pretty well, again going 6-8 hours before waking , getting a feeding then going back down for another 2-3 hours.....I hope this helps those of you trying to transition. My next goal will be getting her to drop that feeding in the middle of the night and being able to get her to sleep minus the swaddle...she busts out of it most nights anyways tho she not rolling yet.
