Success after IF

I think I survived!

DH has been gone on a golf trip with his brothers since Friday morning and I have been home with all three kids by myself for the past three days. I did hire a sitter to help with bedtime since DS needs dinner right when I have to put K&A to bed but besides that I have been on my own. I am completely exhausted, but K&A are asleep and DS is eating dinner with the sitter in the other room. In about 45 minutes he will be in bed and my work will be done!

The thing about having a husband who helps out a ton with the kids is that you really feel his absence when he is away. I honestly cannot believe I am still standing. Thank goodness this weekend is almost over!

  • Way to go mama! I'm in a similar situation where mh helps out a ton, so I know what you mean about feeling it when they are gone. You did an awesome job. I struggle with just one when I'm flying solo, I don't know how you do it with three! That was really cool of you to let YH go on a golf trip though. You rock!

  • You go, mama! You deserve a super special reward! My suggestion...a bucket of wine ;-)

I find it so odd how similar our lives sounds sometimes. DH is really involved and very helpful when he is around, so I really feel it when he's gone. He has been staying a few hours away a few nights a week for work recently and I dread the times that he is OOT. Luckily, my mom can usually come hang out with us (she lives about 40 minutes away, and I am SO thankful when she can make the trip) for the twins' bedtime so I can get them down and V can eat his dinner. Between baths, meals, playtime, and bedtimes for everyone, on top of keeping up with the laundry and the house, and getting myself to the office at 6:30AM on the days that I work, it's enough to make a girl feel a little frantic sometimes!

I had one night without her that went really smoothly, and then another night from hell. I guess you never know which way it's going to go. DH is gone tonight, so FX that my mom will be there!

  • Good job!  When my DD#2 was about 6 weeks, DH went away for 2 nights...and while he was gone, DD#1 got the stomach bug.  I spent the whole time cleaning up vomit.  A week later, he had to go away again, and about 2 hours after he left, DS got the stomach bug.  By the time he got back, I had almost had a nervous breakdown!  Good for you for making it through!!
