Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Am I the only one

Lo is nearly 11 months old and is still co-sleeping, my husband and I agreed when lo will be 1 year old will put her in her own room. But I'm beginning to feel like we are the only ones who still co sleep. If anyone co slept till one year or older then transitioned any advise will be helpful, to make the transition easier.

  • You're definitely not the only one.  We don't do it, but I know there are plenty who do!  Post this on the attachment parenting board - I'll bet they would have lots of good advice for you!

  • We cosleep. DD is just now approaching ten months and we haven't transitioned yet, so no advice here. You're not alone, though.

  • I'm assuming we are going to revisit the topic after the one year mark considering that is my breast feeding goal I'd like to meet. But baby girl is very attached to me and has separation anxiety if I'm not even in sight. So it might not be possible for some time but it's good to know we're not the only family who co sleeps. Was beginning to feel like it but first 6 months she slept in her crib then teething came and now only sleeps with us. Funny how it changed so quick

  • We still bed share. I figure that it works well for while I'm breastfeeding and we will see what happens once she weans. I never expected to bed share, but dd sleeps very well this way which means I do too. Plus, I miss her so much while at work, so it's nice to have the bonding time and extra cuddles. They grow so quickly, so I know one day I will miss this. I'm not rushing it!

  • I'm sure a lot of people do it.  Don't beat yourself up about it, but if you want to get him to sleep on her own the sooner the better.  If it's one thing I've read when it comes to any kind of new stuff for babies it's that the earlier you do it (sleep in crib, get off bottle/binky) the easier it will be.  Good luck!
