TTC after 35

Intro Post

Been a member of the knot since we got engaged, and now that the wedding is less than 5 months away we're getting serious about TTC. We've been technically trying since last July, no luck. I just turned 37, he's 39 so time is not on our side. I had my annual checkup recently and the dr is supposed to be referring me to a fertility specialist. I'm new to all of this and have a deep seated aversion to doctors, thanks to watching my mom go through a lot of medical issues & realizing that a lot of doctors truly are quacks. But I want a child; I've wanted to be a mom since I was 8 or 9. Now that I've finally found the man to share my life with, I'm so afraid that my chances are gone.

    Ticker warning.

Please don't give up hope, you are still young compared to a lot of women on this board, and we have a lot of success stories on PG35 who started here, myself included (I'm 40). The ladies here are very supportive and they will give it to you straight but they will also help you stay positive. Please remember that many of them have been through so much and experienced much loss on their TTC journey. Try to start out with an optimistic viewpoint, your chances aren't automatically horrible because of your age! I wish you the best of luck!
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.

Welcome to the board. It's good that your dr is sending you to a specialist( I hope a RE). They will start out by doing basic testing and that will be a good start.
You are not old so stop thinking that. Go over to PG over 35 and read how many amazing success stories there are. It is truly inspiring.
    Well good luck to you

Thanks for the support. I had a co worker recently have a little one at 42, and my mom had me at 35 (after 3 sons). I'm Pollyanna so I have a positive outlook most days, its just random times I feel convinced it won't happen.

Well, its good to be honest with yourself, we are older and yes there is a chance that it might not happen. But in the TTC game you have to keep yourself positive, its the only way to get through this crazy thing of ttc.

Congrats on your wedding and I wish yuo the best of luck TTC!!

Welcome! Just as everyone has said, don't count yourself out.  I am 43 and going through my first IVF cycle right now and hoping to have my 1st child.  To me age is a number and my RE has never said forget it, it is impossible. So, as long as there is hope, good medical care and a positive attitude anything can happen.

Please find a good RE in your local area.  I go to a local support infertility support group and I've learned there can be significant differences when it comes to RE practices and their success rates.  I'm not sure where you are located, but this article may be of help....
