Pregnant after 35

Share your rant or rave!

What is going on with you this week??
Feel free to share your latest rant or rave (or both) here!

Rant: FTM at 12.5 weeks I am not showing (though my pants are tight and I am more busty) but I feel like everything I put on for work makes me *look* pregnant.  These are all my pre-pg clothes so now I wonder if I have just been walking around for the past 3 years and everyone thinks I am perpetually covering a baby bump!

Rave: as I posted earlier my MaterniT tests came back fine and I think I am finally breathe!

Yesterday, I finally got around to telling people at work that I'm expecting. Most were quite lovely, but more than one person basically scolded me that I "really shouldn't be telling so early," (I'm 16w4d today). Instead of making me feel like I'm slim and barely showing, I looked down and saw my bump and thought, OMG, they just think this gut is par for the course with me!

Rave: Anatomy scan is coming up! We already know we're having a daughter, but DH and I are looking forward to hopefully positive news and having a nice breakfast together afterwards.

AMA & SAIF. TTC #1 since Oct. 2010. DX: Unexplained. BFP on break after 32 months trying and 2 med cycles. Baby girl born at 40w0d!

  • Rant:  I work with a stark raving mad lunatic who loves nothing more than picking fights with my fellow co-workers.  Then when the person she is verbally attacking defends themselves against her craziness she has the audacity to call them a bully and run to the nearest Supervisor and throw on the waterworks and make it seem like the other person was the one to start the drama.  The woman is in her late 50's early 60's and should be too old for this nuttiness,  She blew her top again today and I am just over her bat#$#$ crazy self.

Rave:  After all of the drama today at work I am lucky that I don't have to be there tomorrow because I have a training to go to.  Thank God!!!!  I need a break from the insanity.

  • Rant: Just once I would like to feel like I married a man instead of a spoiled little boy who doesn't want to grow up. My DH chose 7 months into my pregnancy to have a complete meltdown and it has been the most stressful month ever. I will spare you the drama of all the details but let's just say I don't really know where my marriage stands right now and it really sucks after all we went through to get here. I got him to agree to try counseling but now he is blowing it off and making excuses. I really don't know what's going to happen. I had a total emotional breakdown a few weeks ago when he turned into a giant a-hole and lashed out at me. I'm really trying to stay balanced and focus on the baby while he figures out wth he wants. Why do men always let you down when you need them the most???

Rave: My sister made the cutest crocheted hat for my baby based on a picture I sent her and she's sending it along with a boppy and a few other surprises. I can't wait to see it! My sister has really been there for me lately and I feel like our relationship has grown stronger. It's a nice feeling since we live so far apart. Also, a couple friends I never imagined would give a hoot have told me they are sending gifts. That's a really nice surprise. :)

Rant:  I hate it when doctors say "Well if you were in your 20's or 30's we would chalk it up to this...but because you are almost 43 and at high risk..."  Ugh.  I am a healthy 42 year old woman who hardly ever goes to the doctor and has never had to go to the hospital.  I am really getting tired of being told I am "high risk."  For example, I went in for my OBGYN appt and my BP was high and I had protein in my urine.  I had been vomiting an hour before and was dehydrated.  So they say, "Well if you were in your 20's or 30's we would just chalk it up to the vomiting and send you on your way, but because you are "high risk" it looks like it could be pre-clampsia.  Sigh..such drama when you are in your 40's.

Rave:  I have a GREAT job with managers that are so supportive and allow me to work at home when I need to.  That is such a blessing.
  • Rant:  I've had two horrible cold sores all week.  I haven't wanted to go out in public.
Rave:  I'm so happy to be here!  :)
