Trying to Get Pregnant

22 dpo and BFN

Okay so here's the facts:
I have a pretty regular 29 day cycle.  This is the second month dh and I are ttc. I used opk's last month to track my ovulation. I ovulated late - I used the clear blue advanced digital that gives you blinking smileys when you're high fertility and solid when you're at your peak. I tested "high" From Tuesday September 2nd - Sunday September 8 (CD13-19) and than "peaked" September 9 (CD 20) so I probably O'ed between the 9th and 11th (CD 20-22).
So I wasn't sure if I'd get my normal 29 day cycle since I seemed to O late so on day 29 with no sign of AF I wasn't too excited yet. But here we are CD 43 and still no AF. I took an hpt on day 31, 37 and 43 - all negative.
I don't feel AF gearing up at all. I don't know if I necessarily have "pregnancy symptoms" - I'm exhausted, but work 13 hour days, I have to pee all the time but I'm a teacher who just started back up at school and trying to get my pee schedule to match my lunch and  professional period (teachers - you understand right?!), I have some back pains but I just started working out again since after the wedding in July so don't know if it's just muscle.
I'm in the process of switching OB's since my decided to retire when I needed him most haha! So I was able to get an appointment but not until October 14th. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has ever gotten a really late BFP after testing negative so much? Should I assume that I skipped a cycle (which I don't think I've ever done) and start using OPK's again? I wouldn't be devastated at this point if we weren't pregnant yet - it's early in the trying process - but at this point I just really want to know what is possibly going on?!
Any insight would be awesome..

  • Did you continue to use OPKs after the positive?  Are you temping?  It's possible that you geared up to O but then didn't.

I tried temping but I was all over the place. I wake up too often and toss and turn too much to get accurate temps. I also had a killer cold that through temps off. I am trying to temp again and using FF.
  • You don't skip a period, you just have longer than normal cycles. Sounds like that's what you're experiencing. As PPs have said, you can gear up to O according to all of the predictor tests but still not actually O at that time. Only temping can confirm when you've actually ovulated. If you want to be serious about figuring out your cycles and when you ovulate, you might try giving temping a more serious try. I'm a terrible insomniac who still manages to see a temp shift every cycle, my temps are a bit jagged and 'all over the place' but I can still pinpoint O with my temps every single cycle. I don't always temp at the same time, rather I temp when I first wake up as that's when I'm most likely to have had three full hours of sleep. I've made temping work for me because I want it to work and I've chosen to stick with it. Ultimately though, negative tests do mean not pregnant.
