Re: Health and Wellness Check In
I'm struggling pretty hard again... I haven't slept well in 3 nights, and that always ruins me for the next day. Right now my eyes are burning from lack of sleep but for whatever reason when I lay down at night, every bad thought and worry I've ever had surfaces and runs through my brain and I can't turn it off. That or I get my classic night owl second wind at midnight and have tons of energy.
We WILL go to the gym tonight. I made dinner in a crock pot to ensure we won't have an excuse to skip. I even reduced the fat in the meal so I'm proud of that
But yeah... gotta keep myself on track. I think I have PMS (a good thing, at this point) and that always gives me a bad case of the hungries.
What's motivating me right now is my pants. They're getting snug and I do NOT want to have to buy new clothes. That is one of the worst feelings in the world, going to the mall to buy clothes because your old ones make you feel like a sausage
QOTW: right now it is our planned IVF cycle with my carrying that is our motivation. That and my mid November baseball tournament that I want to be in shape for.
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6 6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.
***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***
FET #1 December 2014
I weighed myself and had lost 1.4 lbs, which is pretty great considering I've been on estrogen and that makes it hard to lose any weight. Despite being super strict with my diet and eating BELOW the recommended WW points allowance, the scale has held steady for 2-3 weeks. It's kind of sad that it requires this much work to lose this little weight right now, but I'm just glad it's happening. If I can drop another 1.5 before the transfer, I'd be ecstatic. If not, at least I'll know I did everything I could.
I also went to the orthopedist today to follow up on my foot and hip. She is not concerned about the hip, which she thinks will start to heal again now that I am not in the walking boot or on crutches. They re-x-rayed the foot and although it still looks super broken, and she can feel where the bone is sticking out to the side on the outside of my foot, it is in fact healing. She said it was a pretty bad break and I will probably always have a bump on the side of that metatarsal, but it shouldn't affect mobility and will only be visible on an x-ray. She recommended having it re-x-rayed again in 6 weeks just to check, but when I told her I was planning on doing an embryo transfer in a few weeks, she said not to worry about it. I told her I was pretty sure I would get pregnant but not sure it would stick, given my loss history, and she said, "Oh believe me, I KNOW." So I think my poor orthopedist has her own experience with loss and/or infertilty. I hope her story ended or ends happily.
My physical therapist did something yesterday where he strapped my leg to his body and pulled up on it to separate the joint. It didn't feel like much at the time but my hip felt SO much better last night and feels pretty good today too. Magic!
QOTW: My mom, who ignored her health and died of breast cancer at 55; the hope of a healthy pregnancy and baby; the desire to pass on good health to said potential baby. Also, cute clothes and the ability to do everyday physical activity (yard work, hiking, chasing a child, playing with a dog) without getting tired.

Well... funny story, I am nauseous. Already. So that is my new challenge.
For the last two days I cannot eat anything sweet tasting, or I feel really sick. This morning I tried to eat grapes, and I had a "head in my trashcan" moment. No actual throwing up yet, but it felt dangerously close. I had two moments like that yesterday as well. Eating carbs and cheese seem to settle my stomach, but most fruit and anything with a sweet taste to it tends to make my stomach turn. I also felt sick in the car yesterday when my wife was driving. Had to put the window down and close my eyes. So I think I will need to be the one to drive for a while.
I wasn't expecting to feel this way so soon... part of me thinks it must be in my head b/c who has nausea like this at only 5 weeks?!?!
Anyway, I think healthy eating in general is my new challenge...
QOTW: I am motivated by the fact that I don't want to gain a ridiculous amount of weight during pregnancy and be unhealthy, but also have to struggle to get it off later... I am going to have to find a balance at some point... but for now I am eating bread and staying away from fruits that seem to set me off.
