This will be DS' first Halloween trick-or-treating. We were going to take him last year (DS had just turned 1), but were worried that people would see us as greedy candy thieves using our son to get the deserving children's candy...since DS was too little to eat it.

...and that may have been our plan all along, and we just wimped out. :P

He's still too little to eat a bunch of candy, but we're taking him out this year anyway. He'll be dressed as Bilbo (he can totally pull it off with his big blonde curls). And he'll have so much fun!

So here's a fun Halloween GTKY:

I'll go first, even though I kind of answered this in the OP:

Yes! We're so excited!

I wouldn't mind dressing up but have no plans as of yet. I'll at least don some vampire teeth for handing out candy. DH sadly claims that dressing up is for kids so he won't do it.

4. Favorite Halloween theme/decor (e.g. ghosts, bats, witches, spiders)?

I'm terrified of spiders IRL, and they're my favorite spooky decor item. I especially love all the fake webs.

I would like to throw a Halloween party someday. Pinterest and all her ideas is so so dangerous. We don't have any party plans for this year, though, and I'm also not a big haunted house fan. When I was in college, we used to watch horror movies on Halloween night. I'm such a weenie now. They scare me so much more!

1. Are your kids trick-or-treating this year? If not, will they be dressed up anyway? I doubt we'll be trick-or-treating since we'd be the candy greedy ones in that situation but he'll probably get dressed up anyway.

 2. What will they be dressed as? No idea! Need to get on this.

3. Are YOU and/or your SO dressing up? And what will you dress as? I'm sure we will! We live in New Orleans and Halloween is only second to Mardi Gras here. New Orleanians love to dress up. That said, I have no idea what we'll be dressing as! We usually wait til the last minute, then freak out and put together some crazy costume that has copious amounts of hot glue and a brightly colored wig.

4. Favorite Halloween theme/decor (e.g. ghosts, bats, witches, spiders)? I'm not too into anything in particular.

5. Favorite candy or Halloween treat? Does alcohol count Also, all chocolate and more specifically Crunch bars.

6. Any Halloween party-throwers, haunted house-goers, or lovers of other spooky Halloween activities? Share your fun plans! This has me thinking... Normally we would go out on the town and get a little crazy, but obviously that's not going to happen this year with a 6 month old that nurses constantly... Maybe we'll have to figure out some kind of Ergo-friendly costume and hope that DS will sleep if we go to a party or something.

3. Are YOU and/or your SO dressing up? And what will you dress as? I'm going to be batgirl, DH is green lantern, SS is flash, and DD is supergirl (the justice league)

Sort of? SIL and her children want us to come so we are going to but I will let one of the kids have DS just so we don't look like we are greedy for candy (considering he will only be 11 months old)

Yes, I wanted to do a family costume and to convince SO to do it he has got to pick, right now we are going to be apes or gorillas or something in the primate family, yeah I know, I am so excited. But at least we will all be the same theme so it is OK

I love the moving decorations, like the spiders that drop down on you and stuff

Yes, to a few houses in the neighborhood and family.

 I have no idea. Our zoo has a costume swap, so I'll take last year's lion costume  and see what I can trade it for.

A mom and dad, probably!

I'm gonna be a fairy. My husband is always some sort of zombified celebrity- last year he was undead Sam Kinison.

Oooh, hope it's okay that I play!

 We may go with some families from church, but B is def too young, so it would just be for DH and I to score some candy, lol!

I found a super adorable dragon costume at a consignment sale Sunday- best part? It was only $6! Score!

DH and I will recycle our costumes from last year since we didn't get to go to any parties- we got invited to a Halloween wedding. We will be dressed as a biergaarten girl and guy. Although, now that I have the dragon costume for DS, we may be switching it up a bit!

I love it all! Besides Christmas, my favorite holiday to decorate for is Halloween. We have about 6 totes of decorations that will be broken out this weekend.

Every year we attend a great party thrown by friends from church. It is fun and family friendly, so I know we can bring DS with us, yay! Also, it's not a Halloween party, per se, but DH and I are HUGE The Walking Dead fans and we are throwing a zombie themed premiere party on the 13th! Can't wait!! We will also be going to the pumpkin patch, etc. This is DS's first Halloween!

We go to a pumpkin patch to get pumpkins, then go home and carve them while watching scary movies.  The past 2 years we've done this after the little guy has gone to bed, but this year maybe we'll do a kid friendly movie (Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown) and then save the scary one for after he's asleep.

Eh, I don't really get into Halloween. We didn't "do" it as kids, so it isn't really exciting for me. However, I love passing out candy.

@Mrs.AmyDylan Do you think that since your class is on Halloween, the students might opt to move it to Nov. 1? Or to cancel? That is, if you can't find a sub. Those would be some seriously dedicated folks to work out instead of partying on Halloween!!!

1. Are your kids trick-or-treating this year? If not, will they be dressed up anyway?  They will Trick or Treat. They are 2.5 and 4.5 though, so older than most of your kids.

2. What will they be dressed as? Kate wants to be an eagle. Caroline is going to be a baby eagle, as per her sister's request.

3. Are YOU and/or your SO dressing up? And what will you dress as?  No. I actually loathe Halloween.

DD wil not be trick or treating but we will all dress up as characters from hobgoblins. I love mst3k and DH loves bad movies so hobgoblins was our choice. DD will be a hobgoblin. DH and I are still deciding who we will be.
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love everything about it but I love to decorate with jack o lanterns and I used to love abba zabba but now I'd have to choose candy corn. I love pumpkin flavored anything and I make a ton of pumpkin flavored stuff while it is in season.
I wish we had plans. DH and I usually throw a party but in our new place that would be difficult. Think tiny NY micro apartment. I will be watching Halloween movies and baking pumpkin goods all month though.

1. Are your kids trick-or-treating this year? If not, will they be dressed up anyway? We aren't trick or treating this year, but will probably dress up to hand out candy. I'm thinking I'll be a witch, and DD will be my cat. Not sure about DH!
