Well alrighty then

Yesterday I woke up to a lot of back pain.  It had me in tears at one point.  I thought I had a kidney infection or stones, so I went to the OB so that if it was an infection I could get antibiotics.  Did the whole pee in a cup thing, and it came up negative for a UTI.  I was describing the pain to her and she asked me if I thought it might be contractions.  That stopped me in my tracks.  It hadn't even occured to me that it could be contractions, but they were coming in waves and it was hurting into my belly as well.  So she said to be safe, she'd check my cervix, which, as it turns out, has softened.
I have an appointment for a growth ultrasound already scheduled for the 9th, so she wants them to measure my cervix while they're at it.  I'm not even sure what to do with this information!  I kind of want to google what would happen if they find changes to my cervix, but I don't want to freak myself out (Lordy knows I'm good enough at that without Dr Google's help).
So...no point to this, just in shock and rambling.

  • I know it's hard not to freak out at everything. But I had contractions since 27 or 28 weeks and didn't have him until 40/2. So like amilyn said hopefully just taking precautions and everything is just fine! Hang in there. It does end :).

  • I had contractions on and off from about 24 weeks and got measured as a precaution every chance they got.  I'm sure they're just trying to be precautious.  FX!

  • Fantastic heart news, @eafogel!  Try not to worry about the contrax.  Remember, everything is different when your body has done this before.  Most likely, it's just gearing up!  You'll be in my t&ps, but really, don't worry until they give you a reason to.  Pregnant utes contract, that's just what they do!  ;)  Lots of love headed your way.
