Multiples

Yes...another movement question. :)

Ok MoMs....I'm getting a little freaked out!  I've asked something similar a few weeks ago, but now I'm getting further along.  I'm 27 weeks and I still have A LOT of days where movement is just very minimal.  The days that I feel them, they are super active and the kicks are pretty hard!  But, a day or two of lots of movement is always followed by a few days of nothing much.  I feel them a little and I have a doppler and hear their heartbeats, but I'm freaking out a bit since I will be hitting the 28 week mark on Friday.  My OB keeps telling me that's when I need to do kick counts.  I know for a fact that if this trend keeps going (which I assume it will) that there will be days that they don't move nearly enough for kick counts.  Anyone else experience this?  Maybe this is just the normal for this particular pregnancy?  (FYI...baby B does have an anterior placenta, baby A does not)

Re: Yes...another movement question. :)

  • Do you try to get them moving? Ice water, eating (esp something sweet), or lying on my left side get mine going. My little girl had a quiet day on Sunday and I freaked out because they are usually extremely active.

The kick count test usually calls for 10 movements in two hours (at least that's what I remember). That's not a whole lot. Those are movements - the ripples, flutters, and kicks. You can ask your doctor what they want you to track.

  • Yes I eat, lay on my side, etc...  This isn't my first pregnancy, so I do know what to look for.  However, my singleton was WAY more active.  I never even had a concern!  Sometimes I can get one of them moving if I poke around enough, but seriously...there will be times when there will be only 1 or 2 movements in that 2 hour time frame.  Which is why I'm freaked out.  Every time I've mentioned it to my OB he just says wait until 28 weeks.  I just don't see how anything will drastically change in the next 4 days.  Ugh.  I hate the anxiety.  On the days that they actually decide to be active, I feel SO much better.  Wish it was all the time

  • My girls are the same as yours. At my appointment last week when asked how they are moving I gave an "eh, not as much as usual". The doctor said they only want to hear one answer "Yes." So I was sent to L&D for an NST and BPP. They both passed with flying colors. I'm trying to keep a better count on their movements but I feel most of it on my right side. Baby A, who is breech on my left side has an anterior placenta. She kicks me in my hip and bladder a lot. Yesterday I actually felt her head for probably the first time. We had a nice talk. :)

  • I am the same way...glad you asked this!

  • I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and I have the same thing where I will go almost the whole day and feel no movement. And still days (like today even) I can't feel B moving at all no matter what I do. They are starting to run out of room in there so I try to not worry too much. If I press on him though I can feel him wiggle away from my fingers. If they are facing one another or my spine the kicks are hard to feel and almost unnoticeable like if he kicks me in my butt sometimes I almost miss those.. My OB doesn't recommend kick counts for this reason for multiples. As long as your Doppler is picking up two heartbeats I really wouldn't worry too much. It's pretty normal. I try not to compare my singleton to my twins because it's two very different pregnancies and he had much more room to kick and move than these two little guys :) it's hard not to worry I know I worry too but it's normal.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.  Just to let y'all know, I did mention it to the OB.  They called to tell me I failed my 1-hr glucose test (yay....), so I mentioned it.  They sent me straight to L&D for monitoring.  Both babies were moving like crazy!  I just couldn't feel them!  So weird....but, thankfully, all is well.  :)  I have felt a couple of kicks since I got home, but still not much of anything.  I guess they are just positioned in such a way that I can't feel them very well.
