I thought this wouldn't happen until they were toddlers!!!!??????

My boys are 9 months and one of them constantly takes away or takes over what ever toy his brother is playing with. He will literally crawl across the room to do it too! I feel so bad for the the little guy and you can tell he gets frustrated. Sometimes he gets pretty upset but other times he will just move on to something else.  I have told my LO "no" and redirected him, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions????  I really thought I would not have to deal with this at such an early age. Ugh!

  • My daughter is the toy snatcher in my house! It's gotten to the point where my DS starts crying when he sees her crawling over to him. He isn't very mobile and she is so I feel so bad. I can't leave them alone anymore :(

  • Yep. My boys steal each other's crackers, binkies, blankets... even if they already have one - they take the other one. BUT they also try to share back, too. They'll pop a binky out of brother's mouth, look at both binkies for a while, then try to shove their binky into brother's mouth..

  • Hmm, looks like 'tis the season for this kinda thing. My LOs are the same age and same thing is going on....luckily for me, so far, it seems limited to a couple especially coveted toys, and distraction has been working....I have a feeling it won't work forever, though.

  • My MIL thinks that the solution is to have 2 of everything! I don't think so....It's just a new season of caring for and teaching our LOs.  I just wasn't ready for this part yet LOL

  • No advice because mine do this too. Even if we have 2 of the exact same toy, they still fight over the same one.

Exactly. They will be holding identical toys and still toss the one they are holding aside to grab the one sister has.

  • Yup, about 6 months onward with the toy-grabbing (as soon as one could crawl).  That's life:)  They're 10 months and to this point I've led them figure it out Lord of the Flies style.
