Hi all, I am new to this site and looking for some support as well as to support others with unexplained infertility. DH and I have been TTC for over a year now, I wasn't worried about it till my gyn saw low progesterone in a blood test he sent me for and recommended me to an RE. My RE gave me every test in the book and drained me of all my blood lol she found hypothyroidism and moderate AMH and DH's swimmers are great therefore coming up with unexplained infertility...ugh! This past cycle CD 1 9/13/13( yes Friday the 13th!) I was given clomid on CD 4 thru 8 had 3 large follicles did a trigger shot on CD 13 with iui on CD 14 and 15. I'm now 2DPO in the 2WW which is so hard to get through. Any others out there in the same boat or have been that want to share their stories?
My offical diagnosis is unexplained infertility, but DH and I have both had tests that show minor issues. I have slightly low progesterone on natural cycles (never with medicated though), but not enough to worry my RE. I also have possible hostile CM (I had several bad post coital tests), which "could" be why we have had issues getting pregnant on our own. I also have slightly high NK cells. We found out that DH has slightly low morphology after his second SA.
We have done 4 IUIs (3 with Clomid) and 1 cycle of IVF. We are currently in the middle of IVF #2.
DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA
October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos
November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues. Converted to freeze all due to lining issues. 2 blasts frozen on day 6!
January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues
Hi Twinkie thanks for replying. It's so frustrating having all these tests and them finding small things but nothing that warrants an exact reason for infertility grrr. Good luck with the IVF I'll be thinking of you keep me posted!
We are officially unexplained but like others have a couple of minor issues that could have impacted our fertility. We've been TTC for just over 3 years and have tried just about everything (history in my siggy). We did IVF in April, got enough eggs to freeze and now I'm on my second frozen transfer. We've had a few pregnancies along the way but none that lasted. Unexplained is a very frustrating diagnosis. Our highest chance of success is with IVF/FET and despite the process going well each time, it's not working. I hope that science will advance enough in my lifetime that they figure out what our problem is.
There are a lot of ladies doing IVF on this board. You might want to check out the Trouble Trying To Conceive board as well. You will find more ladies on clomid and femara over there. Best of luck to you! Try to stay sane in the 2ww, I know how hard it is!
We were unexplained before our we conceived our first. (I also had a LPD at the time.) We were fortunate that the RE was able to help pretty quickly. Through testing with my family doctor, we discovered that I have Hashimotos earlier this year. Once my Synthroid dose was figured out, I have a regular LP! (like, 15 days last cycle, as opposed to 5-6 days before that.) Hopefully getting your thyroid figured out will help you to conceive! Good luck
Hi whoberry, Thank you for sharing your story, beat of luck with your IVF/FET my thoughts are with you.
I will definitely check out those other boards still learning where things are around here! I have been warned by other users that some people get territorial about who's posting in what and making people move off certain boards...is that true?

It's tough to gauge a persons tone from responses, so sometimes a poster will feel like they're not welcome, but really it's just about finding where YOU fit in. As long as you're respectful of the board and other posters, you're welcome pretty much anywhere! By saying that there are more people going through the same situation as you on another board, that just means that you might get more answers and more support there, since they're going through the same thing as you
Hello! I also am diagnosed as unexplained IF. During the course of tx (3 rounds Femara, 4 IUIs with Follistim) my RE thinks I may have endometriosis. I don't have symptoms though (they found what may be endometrial tissue on my ovary during all my US). Through all of the above plus 1 year trying before that I have never been pregnant. I am starting BCP shortly for our first IVF. This whole process sucks! Good luck to you and hope your 2ww flies by!

We're also unexplained. My history is in my siggy. Headed into transfer #3. I'm having a hysteroscopy & endometrial biopsy tomorrow. We're praying it'll bring more to light, even if it's bad news. Not knowing sux!! My advice is don't be afraid to do your own research & ask your RE anything & everything! GL

3 morula stage embryos transferred on 9/25/13.....Beta #1 on 10/4/13/ = 7.5 Beta #2 on 10/6/13 = negative

Late October 2013 - ectopic pregnancy - methotrexate injection....benched 3 months
CD1 - 12/5/13...Lupron set to start on 12/26/13; CD1 - 1/2/14....Baseline 1/3/14....begin follistim tonight and continue with lupron. (Got my calendar today! IVF#2 is a go!)
ER = 1/14/14 (11 eggs....9 were mature. 9 fertilized. Of the 6 mature eggs we thawed, only 4 fertilized. At this time, we have 13 eggs fertilized and growing. Waiting for news about a 3-day or 5-day transfer.)
ET = 1/19/14 (5dt).....3 blastocysts transferred! (All nine embryos didn't make it to freeze. =( )
Welcome!! I am unexplained also and have very low progesterone after ovulation getting ready for ivf..glad you made it through the clomid..it brought out a side I never knew existed lol
@cachoque No I was not put under they didn't give me that option. They gave me a local anesthetic and my hubby was in there with me so that helped. It was very uncomfortable the saline solution felt like a horrible gas pain and there was a lot of blood (sry for the TMI) it was really cool to see my tube openings and my uterus though. Also I bled for a full week some women dont bleed at all! Good luck tomorrow let me know how it goes!
We are unexplained- no issues at all have been found. While I am glad we have nothing major wrong with us I am frustrated bc we have been TTC for 2 years and have been doing medical treatments since February (see siggy). Its frustrating but theres nothing you can do but keep on trying and work with a RE. In my mind I keep on telling myself somethings gotta work eventually. Good luck!
***SIGGY WARNING***
DX: Unexplained
6 Failed IUIs (Clomid and Gonal F).
IVF #1 began August 2013- BC, 4 days of Estrace, stimmed with Gonal F and Menopur, Ganirelix, 9R 5M 5F, Medrol and Doxycycline, 5 day transfer of 2 early blastocysts- good quality, Progesterone, Estrace, and baby aspirin, BETA on 9/20 BFN, IVF #2 began September 2013, stimming with Gonal F (higher dose) and Menopur, Ganirelix, 18R 14M 9F with ICSI, 5 day transfer of 2 BBs one was starting to hatch, 2 frosties: 1 BB and 1 AC, BETA on 10/21, BFN BETA was a 5- chemical
Getting some more testing and trying to figure out what the issue is before FET in December, started acupuncture on 11/10, RLP and some other BW nothing major to report except slightly high Prolactin. Prolactin was slightly high when I started with my RE and I already had an MRI which was Neg. Endo biopsy=negative. WTF is wrong with us???
12/18/13 FET of 1 BB and 1 AC. Hoping for a miracle. Beta 12/26 Low BETA-8 2nd BETA 5- chemical
After 3 failed transfers IDK where to go from here. Still no real answers as to why this isn't working. Getting a second opinion in February and looking into immune testing.
2/14- NEW RE- Immune testing showed a partial dq alpha match with DH- On prednisone and did intralipids prior to transfer. 3/14 Lupron, gonal f, menopur, HGH. ER 15 mature all 15 fertilized! 5dt of an early blast grade 1 and an expanded blast grade 2. BETA on 4/21. 1 grade 2 embryo frozen BETA #1 59 BETA #2 148 BETA #3 283 BETA #4 2,783! US at 6w2d shows 1 bean measuring right on track! HR 121. US at 8w3d measuring on track HR 177. Released form my RE. EDD 12/28
We are unexplained as well. I am taking Synthroid for slight hypothyroidism and the progesterone takes care of a possible LPD. Other than that we don't have any known problems. My RE suspects it may be a tubal issue. It is so frustrating to not be able to "fix" something. I hope you have great news from your IUI!
Hi Rixx0207, I'm on synthroid as well and just stared progesteron suppositories for added support during the 2WW.
Have you had your tubes checked yet? That was the first thing my RE did plus I insisted because that was my moms issue getting pregnant with me. The procedure is not painful at all and pretty quick.
I am such a problem solver so it's so hard for me to understand that there really isn't a problem to fix, doesn't make sense!
