Born 9/28 @ 3:57am, weighing 7lbs. 4 oz., 20 inches long. Went in at 7:30 for a NST at 40w3d, decided to induce due to no change but didn't want to go too long due to GD. I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced. Cytotec placed at 12pm, by 3, we had only progressed to 1.5cm, contractions went from 4-5 mins to 2-4 mins, we progressed quickly to 3 then 6. I requested the epidural, which was placed at 6:15pm, at 6:20 I had just laid back down at my water broke. They checked me again at 9pm and I was at 8 cm. To this point, we had only had one dose of cytotec, so little man just needed a little jump start, my body took over and did the rest. We stalled out at 8cm for about 3 hours and we had a couple of scary seconds where LOs heart rate dropped at the end of my contractions. He stabilized long enough so we started pitocon to try and get to 10. We progressed to. 9.5, 9.75 and then finally 10 by 1am. He was still very high, and because of heart rate drops, we didn't want to push longer than necessary. We waited another two hours, but baby didn't drop . Our nurse came in around 3:15 to start pushing. We pushed for 45 minutes, the doctor was paged at 3:45 to deliver. She watched for two pushes, LOs heart rate took a significant dip, she grabbed the vacuum, and he was out on the next push, screaming and awesome color at 3:57. Daddy cut the cord. I have a lateral right and second degree tear. We did skin to skin while they stitched. 45 minutes later, he had nursed from both sides and was happy happy happy. We got to our room about 630am. And he is nursing every 3-4 hours like a champ. We are completely in love and DHs kids simply adore their little brother!
