Natural Birth

Natural birth and TWINS???

I just recently found out im expecting twins. I still really would like to do a home birth BUUUUUT I feel that is probably not going to happen. nontheless, I would still like to attempt a natural vaginal birth.

Any success stories?? Is that even possible?
Thanks!

Re: Natural birth and TWINS???

  • My sister showed me this girls vlog https://m.youtube.com/user/GabeandJesss she had a natural vaginal delivery of twins (one was breech)

  • Totally possible! Although it does depend on your situation--positioning of the twins, what type of twins they are (di/di, mo/di, mo/mo), and any other high-risk factors. I am pregnant with di/di twins and really hoping for a vaginal birth! Some of it also depends on your doctor and what they're willing to do. I think in general they want you to have the epidural line inserted in case of an emergency c-section (so they don't have to knock you out), but it's up to you whether to actually get the meds.

My OB is very supportive of natural birth as long as Baby A isn't breech. Another OB in my practice told me that she would be comfortable delivering breech twins in certain circumstances, but not for me since I am petite and my first baby (born vaginally) was pretty small.

  • The lady I used to nanny for had her twins med-free.  They were fraternal twins, both head down and born within nine minutes of each other.  She never intended to go without an epi, but when she arrived she was already ready to push and the doctor encouraged her to go without one, so she did.
