We have a list of our top 3, but we've had this same list for the past 6 months! And for my favorite on the list, Mia, we have no middle name whatsoever.
Before DH deployed, we were set with our boy/girl name. In the past week, I've rekindled my love affair with my most favorite girl name and am STUCK on it. It's not the name that we decided on before he left, so we're trying to hash it out over email.
We have a first name, but still need a middle name. We already told our families too, so they know. And they all give us suggestions; we just haven't liked any of them so far.
I mentioned it in the Mixed race babies thread that I can't approve of DH's list of Slavic names, hahaha. So we "have a final list" but I feel like I'm lying to everyone when I say that.
ETA: And he can't approve of my old school Spanish names list either. What, Macedonio, Fructuoso, or Concha not good enough? :P
I feel like a total failure now, lol. I'm in the "Haven't started" category. Technically we've started looking a little, but haven't finalized a list or narrowed anything down. Apparently I had better get cracking on that!
DH wanted Kenneth and nothing else. I had a list of about 25 names that DH hated and to be honest I wasn't overly crazy about any of them. DS1 name came so easily and I never regretted it. This one was harder. Kenneth wasn't my top name but I liked it and DH loved it so I agreed. We wanted to pick something so Ds could start calling the baby by his name to make it more real for him. DS calls him Kenny. MN will be Andrew.
Erm, I've started. DH has had it pounded into his head that he can't name things (by HIS family a lot more than me, I joked about it, they were dead serious), so I've got a list, but most of it really doesn't stick out to me. And yes, DH gets to nitpick at the list I've got, he's definitely getting a say in what we name this kid -- he's already marked off some of the names, which makes me sad (my favorite did go bye bye). However, we DO have a middle name that only my mom and sister know outside of us, and that's because I didn't want my mom to have a bad shock, because I wanted to use my little brother's middle name, said little brother died nine years ago this coming Sunday, and without going into detail, she's still really torn up about it (which I don't blame her at all!). So, as a sort of heads up/courtesy, I told them both, but no one else knows, and when we figure out a first name, well, that'll be kept to us until DS gets here.
So, yeah, got half the name picked out! The other half....part of me wonders if we'll get it picked in time or not, but then I remember with DD we didn't have a name until like, two weeks before she got here.
We have acouple different names that we both like, but neither of us will commit to anything. I'm tired of no one liking the names I like and I told MIL I didn't care what she thought yesterday. Good thing other people were around and thought it was funny because the family just started laughing.

If LO had been a girl, she would have been Mia Caroline or Mia Nicole. Just a thought!
We have no idea. Nothing sounds right. With DD we just knew, we decided one day via text message. Now I have a few that I like but don't love and don't sound right with DD's name. I am being indecisive and it's annoying! I want my baby to have a name already!
SS- I have a name I love, that I finally want to use, I am waiting to tell DH, because it is one I had previously wanted then changed my mind (he liked it also). He doesn't do well with names this far in advance (and I know we're in 3rd tri). So I am sitting on it for another week or so, and making sure I don't veto it again so he doesn't think I'm completely crazy.
P.S. I can't wait to choose for sure, because I saw this really cute monogram for the nursery on Etsy and I am itching to get it!
We were unsure and between a few but not in LOVE with any, but we've started referring to her with one of them over the last two months, and now my family has started as well. So now it just feels like her name! I'm still not enamoured with it, or any other name, but it's as though that's already who she is, if that makes any sense.
I voted special snowflake because we're not 100% but we really only have 1 name on our list. So we're more like 95% sure that her name will be Julia Noelle.
TOT question prompted by a name mentioned above...
Anyone know the movie Weird Science??
Are you referring to my Oliver Chet? LOL, my boss pulled up a you tube of the talking poop for me since I had never seen it. Its my S/O grandpas name and his middle name. He wanted it as Ollie's first name and I shot that down very quickly but figured I had to compromise a bit
Yes - but we still tell people it's between two different names. I'm not sure why I lie.
We decided but DH won't tell anyone he works with what the real name is. Whenever anyone asks he says it will be Schmearl.
We still have a list of about 5-6 finalists and DH is adamant about not telling anyone (his parents voiced their opinions a bit too loudly with his older brother's kids' names). My family has taken to calling the baby Homer just to have something to call him! Obviously that name is not on the list
I think I know the name we will end up choosing. - we have 2 left on our list. But the other day H throws out a name that we originally had on our bigger list, that he said no to. So i was pretty much "wtfff" when he suggested it, since he said no to it months ago! Grrr. So now we are up to three possibilities I guess. In the end, I know he'll let me decide between them. If i said "this is the one" he wouldn't disagree.
How about you spell it with a Y as you originally planned and I'll keep mine with this spelling?
Eta: Anja that is
What does it matter how she spells it? It's not like you two know each other IRL or are related or anything right? Who cares if two baby Anjas are on the same message board?
Sorry if I'm missing something. I haven't been keeping up with the Dec '13 board drama as much as I should.

Yes, you are missing something. Apparently quite a bit. She had said she liked the name Anya and Kate said that was the name I picked. I said it's nbd because I'm spelling it Anja in honor of my German mother and Oma. I suppose it annoys me because she changed it after that convo. Then again, maybe it annoys me because today is the anniversary of my mother's death. Maybe because that spelling has a lot of meaning to me. Idk but it annoys me and I'm entitled to be annoyed about it.
Re: Baby Name Status
We have a middle name and last name... Does that count? Haha
So, yeah, got half the name picked out! The other half....part of me wonders if we'll get it picked in time or not, but then I remember with DD we didn't have a name until like, two weeks before she got here.

I see you got some inspiration for the spelling...
