17/18 weeks - baby in my "hip"?

I've been having cramping/sharp pains in the front of my stomach - right side - close to my hip. At our u/s yesterday we saw baby A's head is right there doing a headstand. His head is pressing on my cervix.

1.) I assume positioning doesn't matter and this is "ok"?
2.) Any tricks to get him to move? It huuuurts sometimes!!!

Re: 17/18 weeks - baby in my "hip"?

  • Although I don't have the sharp pain my baby A is in the exact same position and now at 27 weeks it causes cervical pain and hip bone pain especially when he kicks and pushed his head down on what's left of my cervix. B is head down (most days he likes to do flips in there a lot so either feet are hitting the bone or a head either way it's not comfy haha) too and his head is on my other hip it's uncomfortable for sure! I found if I laid upside downish like feet up on the couch and head down on the floor it too them off the bone. However then they were up in my ribs and I got awful heartburn and rib pain so it's a one or the other sort of thing. Your early enough where they have lots of space still to flip around and move just try different positions and hope for the best :)

  • Loading the player...
  • Mine is the same. Baby A is pressing against my cervix and hip and has been for about a month. I hope he's not squished, but I don't think there is anything we can do to move him!

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs. Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!
  • Just a thought... Perhaps it is round ligament pain you are feeling? I always got this in the same area.
  • I honestly thought it was RLP, but then at my u/s yesterday she was trying to get pictures of the baby and had me lay on my side for it and DUG into the spot with the wand thingy and it freaking HURT. Almost to tears I just held my breath.
