How to open stuck baby food jar? ::: hangs head in shame :::

::: looks sheepish :::

So I make some of my baby food, do some table food, buy some baby food purees - basically I take the "bastard hybridization" approach to food sources for my kid...

Anyhow, when I want to take the homemade baby food or table food (cheerios, little chunks of veggies) out and about I sometimes put them in commercial baby food jars that I've washed out and sterilized since they are conveniently sized and we have them around anyway.

Somehow - and I honestly don't know how - I can't get any of the latest batch to open.  I've tried using those rubber grip things, running the lids under warm water, using a towel, but I can't get the stupid things open... I realize the answer to this is probably something embarassinly obvious but ummmm... why is this happening and what other options do I have to get these open?  Has this happened to anyone else?

  • LOL, don't feel bad it has happened to me too. I took a butter knife and used the end to hit against the top also you can bang the top against the edge of the counter too. GL

  • try banging the dull end of a knife/spoon/fork around the edge.

  • I take a thick rubber band and wrap it around the cap until tight.  Works like those rubber grip things, only a little better, I think
