Hello,
I am originally from FL but have been living in Chicago for a number of years. I work as a doula/breastfeeding counselor and am planning on attending my sister's upcoming birth at Baptist South in Jacksonville. It has been years since I have been to a Jacksonville hospital and I am not familiar with the birth scene in north Florida. My sister is hoping for a somewhat natural birth and would like to avoid the newborn procedures. Did anyone have a doula who delivered at Baptist South? What are their policies...like no standing or out of bed after water breaks, can dad go with baby to nursery if the baby needs bloodwork? Also, has anyone taken their placenta for encapsulation after a birth at Baptist South? Did you enjoy the nurses? I would love to hear birth stories or experiences of your stay in L&D and postpartum. I am hoping I can make it to her birth and wear the aunt, doula and breastfeeding counselor hats all in one:)
Thanks!
