It's called FluMist if you want to look it up. Pretty recently I thought it was only recommended for ages 4 or 5 and up, but looks like now it's approved as young as age 2. It's an attenuated vaccine, not inactivated like the injection. That means the person who gets FluMist is actually capable for about 21 days of spreading the virus to someone with a weakened immune system. Not recommended for pregnant patients. I didn't see this on the website I was looking at, but I've seen in practice that docs don't like to give it to kids with pregnant moms (due to the risk of possibly giving mom the flu).

Yup, it's definitely approved for kids as young as 2. But before you decide to give it to your 2 year old, make sure that they understand the difference between sniffing and blowing their nose. I'm really not sure how much vaccine actually made it into my 2 year old last week. I should've had her get a shot. She also has had a runny nose and slight cough for a week since having the mist. I don't recall her having a reaction to her shot last year.
My daughter has had the flu mist for the last 2 years. She does well with it and my doctor said she didn't need to know how to sniff in order to get it. Also, our pediatrician said the flu mist was good for a year where the shot only lasted about 6 months.

This is awesome to hear. I need to get my LO in for his flu vaccine. I just got mine today at work (which is so convenient - never got them prior to it being made this easy).

DD has gotten the mist the past 2 years. I was obviously pregnant last year when she got it and the pedi's office didn't mention that she should get the mist over the shot. DD doesn't mind it and saves us a lot of tears!
Dd gets the mist. I was told the only people I need to avoid are ones with a VERY compromised immune system. (Someone going through chemo) She said pregnant women and babies were ok. (I also have a 2 mo)
We've done the mist the past few years and also heard it was only a concern around those with VERY compromised immune systems. We were also told that the mist protects against 4 strains of the flu while the shot is for 3 strains.
