Yes, it's good. 

It's not  crap and the protagonists are not complete asshole jerks.  

I also imagine the dude is Benny, so that helps.

The first three books are a trilogy.  The author mentions at the end of the last book (in the author's notes) there may be more coming. 

But the first three books covers the relationship between the two main characters.

Also, just so you know I recently put Sherlock on my prime watch list (so I have something to watch when H is gone on fire shifts). I'm only through the pilot so far.
