LO celebrated her first birthday a few weeks ago. We've had quite a year with feeding issues and poor weight gain, reflux meds, and a recently diagnosed cow milk protein intolerance. She has been on a 24 hour feeding schedule (every 2 1/2- 3 hours) which let my husband and I to sleep in seperate rooms and alternate between feeds so that we could each get a chunk of uninterrupted sleep. At it's worst, LO swatting at the bottle and taking 1/2 of her daily intake in while she was sleeping, and spitting up 2-3 times a day. If you asked me a few months ago if I thought things would be improved, it would be highly skepical but it seems like they have. She has slowly started to increase her intake during the day while awake and decrease her intake while sleeping. She made it onto the growth chart for weight and using her actual age she is in the 5th percentlie (i'll take it!) We were able to elimiate her 3am feed about 6 weeks ago and last night we elimiated her 12:30 am feed (last feed at 10:30pm last night- sleep feed). So she went a full 8 hours without eating. And did a great job with her bottle this morning!
I know this is a lot to read. But just wanted to put something out there for people struggling with these issues and feeling overwhelmed to let you know that even though you may doubt it, and you've seen every specialist you can see to try to get some help, and you are at your whitts end, sometimes things actually do get better. Lo's just sometimes need a little more time.
