Allergies?

I have seasonal allergies plus dust and mold. What suggestions do you ladies have for safely handling symptoms?

Re: Allergies?

  • So do I and I am also looking for answers. I use the Neti pot which I would recommend. It's weird at first but it's just a saline solution that goes through your nostrils to clear out. I'm not as consistent with it as I should but it does help. It is no miracle though so I still sneeze and blow my toes all the time... I also use a steroid nasal spray which is supposed to be safe in pregnancy because it works locally, though it makes me a bit nervous. I find that it hasn't worked so well in the last few weeks though. Looking forward to hearing if there are other suggestions.

  • I'm with you guys!  I've just been using saline.  I know you can use benadryl but think that is later in pregnancy.  I'm still too nervous to right now.  Good luck and hope we all get some relief!

  • I've had the worst hay fever the past couple of weeks!! Miserable! Haven't tried anything besides just suffering...
  • I am taking zyrtec and if I need it I will use flonase.  My doc said both are okay.

  • I just suffer. I've been pregnant or breast feeding since July '11 so I'm used to it at this point. Sucks though.

  • I suffer until I get to the point of non-functioning, then I take Benadryl. My dr said it was ok occasionally.

  • I'm just suffering with it but I swear I sneeze like 50 times a day! I can't breathe and now my throat hurts. I did read Zyrtec was ok but in nervous about taking anything.

  • I've been taking Zyrtec. My DS breastfeeds twice a day. Luckily it doesn't seem to lower my supply. I've also been doing a nasal spray, Nasonex, but I've cut way back on it.
Hot herbal tea (sleepy time sinus soother blend) with local honey feels good. This allergy season has been the worst one of my life.
  • My allergy doctor said that Loratadine (Claritin) is safe during pregnancy. I took it with my first pregnancy too and all was fine.
