Was postpartum weight loss slower 2nd time around? I've been stalled out @10-15 lbs. over starting weight since 6 wks pp...and I'm 12 wks pp now. Last time bfing basically took it all off,..and I could eat like a horse and still lose weight. That doesn't seem to be working now. Drat. And I even stayed steady in wks when I've exercised religiously. On the plus side, it doesn't take long to decide what to wear since the options are so limited.
For me it was/is about the same both times. I didn't shed the pounds quickly the first time, despite BFing for 14 months. It was around 9 months PP when I felt like I had lost a significant amount, but still held onto about 6-7 lbs.
That's where I was at when I got PG the second time. And right now, at 1 yr PP, I am still 10 lbs above that. So, close to 20 lbs above where I was before getting PG the first time. Of course, even if by some miracle I were to lose it, my hips are wider & my shape is just different overall. I will never be the same! (
yes, i think it is more difficult with subsequent pregnancies...and maybe age factors in.
after my first pregnancy, i had to purposefully eat enough to maintain the weight. part of that was because oliver was a super fussy baby, so i literally would be tending to his cries all day long..id forget to eat. i kept 10 pounds of that weight on because my doctor told me it would make getting pregnant the second time easier.
i gained 10 more pounds with my second pregnancy than i did with my first, and now i can not get it off. i am 20 pounds higher than first pre-pregnancy weight. i want 10 of it gone before we try to get pregnant in january. i watch what i eat, and am exercising daily. there is little to no progress. it is so difficult!
YES (. I didn't BF for long with both kiddos but I also never ate right or worked out. I had gained about 50lbs with each pregnancy. After G, I was pretty much back at my pre pregnancy weight when he was a year old. Then I even lost a few more lbs when I conceived B. With B, for months now I've been stuck about 6 lbs over my pre pregnancy weight. It just will not go awaaaay. Everyone told me it would fall right off because I'd be chasing these two suckers around but that was a LIE. I swear its hanging around my stomach, butt and thighs. DH says he likes the way I look and I was too skinny before but maybe he's just saying that to be nice. Meh.
For me it was quicker this time. I started at the same weight and gained 25lbs with both kids. Last time I had trouble with the last 10lbs, this time I was at pre-preg weight when I weighed myself at 10days pp. the only things I did differently this time were not BFing and wearing my belly bandit and wink religiously. Idk if the belly wrapping is supposed to help with weight loss, but I feel like it must have somehow.
It was about the same for me both times I think. I BF #1 for 6 months and #2 for 4 months and that pretty much took everything off for me pretty quickly.
But I had my kids at 25 and 27, so I'm still pretty young - I'm sure that's a factor as well.
Since having #2 I've fluctuated between being at my pre-preg weight to about 5 pounds above. Depends on how good I'm doing with eating and trying to get in a tiny bit of exercise when I can.
Sorry so late getting back to it. So many of you mentioned age that I feel like an old lady now. So yea, that probably is part of it. But guess I'll just have to resign myself to working out. Not all bad, I actually kind of like doing it.
Eh, the age thing is a bit of a cop out. We are only a couple years older than we were the first time. It becomes harder to lose weight as we get older because we naturally tend to lose muscle mass and become less active as we get older. However, it doesn't have to be the case. If you lift weights to maintain your muscle mass as you age, then you will also maintain your metabolism. I also think I burned more calories caring for the first baby because I didn't know what I was doing. I spent all day holding her and bouncing her, and I never gave her a chance to learn how to be by herself. The second time around, that wasn't really a possibility, so she had to self soothe and generally learn to be ok with not being held all the time. I was also so adept at doing things one-handed the second time around that I was able to feed myself.

oh & I fully admit to not exercising, lol.
