Serious Question....

Is there a way to remain professional around someone who sexually harassed you?
Last semester my photo teacher decided he was going to touch my boobs (obviously without my consent) and so I filed a report with the school. School did absolutely nothing. It was great.
So now the only real option I have is to avoid the corridor his classrooms are in and if I do go down there I always have one of my guy friends with me.
BUT, I had a photo in a show over the summer, and he kept them until this semester, we had to go get them back ourselves.
Some strange reason, today I walked down that hallway by myself, he happened to be there, he was all his normal overly friendly creepy self, but I got my photo and got the hell out before anything else could occur.
However, now I'm wondering if I'm supposed to be polite or whatever to him. Like I answered what he said to me but it was pretty obvious I was tense and wanted to get away from him and he knows why, he's not stupid and like I said, the school did absolutely nothing.
Am I still supposed to be professional to someone like that?

Right or wrong, I wouldn't respond to a damn thing he said.
    Me too.
Professionalism be damned when it comes to harassment.

  • Oh, good. I really just wanted my picture back, being it's my intellectual property and all.

  • I'm sorry the school did nothing and I am sorry that you have been put in a position where you still have to be in contact with this creep. All of it is so wrong and I don't think you need to treat someone like that with any professionalism or respect.

My school is a piece of work.
My friend and I also found a picture of him on a gay hookup app on my friend's iphone once. He's beyond scummy and creepy.
Thanks, guys. I'm just kinda frazzled and I wanted to make sure it wasn't my problem. He was all "how was your summer? are you still taking pictures?" Uhm I'm not gonna tell you anything about my life, GTFO.
ETA: Oh, and the last thing he said as I walked away was "it was a pleasure working with you" which in normal context is a perfectly normal thing to say but I kinda just wanted to hit him in the balls with a 40 ft pole.

  • @MamaReb29 Last semester what they told me was "they were filing a report with his supervisor" and I wasn't going to be named in it because at that point I was still in his class. I came back and bugged them about getting a meeting with.... oh man she was the director of public safety? I think. I went and talked to her for all of two minutes and she was very calm but that was literally the only thing they told me.
It was right after that awful case in Stuebenville with that girl and those three boys whose "lives were ruined" because they, ya know, raped someone? And I had a couple people who at the time I thought were friends who were telling me "Are you sure it wasn't an accident?" So I didn't follow through as well as I should have. The security lady I told my original report to used to wave at me every time she saw me (and she saw me a lot so I think she was kinda watching out for me) so at least I knew if the bigwigs weren't doing anything someone believed me and was checking. I probably should see what if anything the college actually ended up doing though, you're right. I usually just avoid that part of that floor, I luckily don't have to go near it for classes or anything. Today it was the quickest way to the computer lab and I wasn't thinking about it.

If a man touched your boobs without your consent it isn't sexual harassment, it's sexual assault. If you feel that intimidated by him I would consider calling the police or following up with the university on their investigation of the complaint.
    Yup.
